Well My ac crapped out on the hottest day of the year! Looks like the compressor is not kicking in. Does anybody know how much this will cost to fix.. I was told maybe 400.00 :emo: any suggestions on where to go as well.
You sure the compressor is shot and its not low pressure or one of the switches that triggers the compressor? check out this diagnostic how-to post: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=22250849&postcount=6
My sugestion is go to Firestone get the $39 service evaluation. My guess is that your compressor is just fine. You have several items that could cause your problem. You will need an expert to sort it out. Mike
I would check all your lines for holes. I just had this issue. My TMIC rubbed a hole in my line causing a leak. Line cost about $35, new freon from checker was about $30 (you can buy a bottle that has a guage right on it). Very simple and cheap
Ok, predover helped me. He just sat there with a captain coke in his hand and pointed at what I needed to do.
this is good advice.. typically if the freon is too low the compressor wont kick on.... so it may need a re-charge and a check for leaks.. ps Mike.. still need to chat suspension soon
I checked, they are gone. I must have given them away this weekend. Disregard. Alot of alcohol went through the brain this 4th of July.
Yep. I was pretty surprised when my 02 wagon needed a recharge last summer (my 93 truck still blows cold on the original freon). Nathan took care of it for me back when he still had his shop.
FYI: talk to ben at that eden prairie midas and tell him I Sent you. He might be able to hook you up.
If I want to get the coolant from the parts store and re-charge mine, what kind (brand and/or type) should I get?
first things first.. COOLANT goes in the radiator... FREON goes in the a/c system... ha ha ha most parts stores... but even though some swear they have had success, it is always best to find a shop that is 1. Trustworthy 2. trained to work on it... by the way.. it is illegal to release freon into the air, (not that you would ever get busted...)
well its not working again! woohoo! taking it back next Wednesday. My work sheet says they checked for leaks and found none but thats my assumption seeing as it took only 2 days to not work again.
ok brought it back in...I habe a bad line my sti intercooler rubbed a hole in it. they quoted me 485.00 for the oem line alone..
