So much carbon build up on the ring lands... ewwwWW new rings going in. Should I bake it?? lolz It'd stink up the house if I did... lolz! I was like.. spray it down with carb cleaner??? But I figured I'll soak them in Seafoam to see how well it works. I've never tried it, just heard a little. Hopefully the carbon comes off. They sat since last night. I'll go check on them in a bit.
I soak them in carb cleaner overnight and then scrub them with a toothbrush. Worked great last time. Are you sticking with OEM 22T pistons? :ugh:
hehe these are '98 2.5L DOHC pistons. Sorry for not listing what they are. These are going back in my Dad's '98 Outback. The rebuild on my Dad's '98 Outback: resurfaced heads and block decks w/ fresh cylinder hone NEW ACL Race bearings NEW Std rings NEW seals/gaskets/o-rings NEW OEM head bolts NEW HG '98 2.5L DOHC It overheated and blew the HG between cylinder #2/4. Changed it once but didn't resurface it. Now it warped the head and the block deck. You can see the dark spot. The pistons did get steam cleaned though from the coolant. lolz here's what it looked like when I opened the motor. At least 2-3 more cars before I get to work on mine.... *sigh*
it's a '97-'99 2.5L DOHC thing. Looks like WRX, eh? lolz Run STi heads on it and it'll be low compression you know... lolz
Fuji, you're just too smart for these stuff. Most of the time I dont even know what you're talking about. I guess I can learn from just reading your posts.
I'd like some icing and a bright cherry on top of mine plz! LOL So how are you planning to help clean the valves?
