Boost Surge???

    hello tonight while driving home i noticed while in 4th and 5th gear it surges in and out during full boost i am no expert on these things. anyone have any ideas thanks.

    mods? and when you say boost surge are you saying it spiked? or jumped from target boost to above target boost? gotta expand on the details to get a good anwser

    i think he means compressor surge, probably because its getting cold out

    Are you going well over 100MPH when this happens? If not, you're probably over boosting because you're going WOT at low RPM. You should downshift to a lower gear before flooring it.

    2004 wrx downpipe and exhaust. Tuned at rs motors. I did 4th all the way it's weird it boosts then cuts then boosts again.

    most likely boost cut, its because its cold out i would get the tune checked to be safe

    You are hitting boost higher than the target (what its tuned at). When that happens the wastegate will close until the boost drops below the target. This can go in a cycle. If its doing it all the time, I can adjust the comp table to drop duty during colder intake air temp.

    Are you still on that same whiny turbo? Maybe it decided to spool better and create more boost this time. Has it been doing this since the tune?

    Ya been doing since. And ya still the same turbo. When could you look at that?
