dropping the tranny is easy, remove exhaust, drop propshaft (drive shaft), undo shift linkage, then trans to motor bolts, then trans support... only takes 90 or so mins. (with air tools)
I agree with the above. For a clutch change just pull the tranny back and leave the front axles connected. You should have just enough room to get a clutch in/out.
I was committed to this^^ for an hour...and than pulling the engine seemed much easier (no hoist). So, I ended up pulling the motor.
I've had my tranny separated from the block at least half a dozen times in the last year and I did it all on jack stands. Probably takes an hour to get to that point.
