It may be as Lord Subaru intended but I *think/feel* I have an exhaust leak. The sound I notice is most perceptible at partial throttle from about 2k to 3k. The sound is almost diesel-esque. n00b question but is there simply something mechanical in the turbo that might be fluttering and more audible with my Maddad Stealthback to STi Axleback set-up?

Eyeballing the DP at the flange connections it appears, to me, that there may be leak. I need some trained ears/eyes to help diagnose. I work from home in SLP and can travel - must be clean and DD free.

Hah, if it was only more rubles... It sounds like several dwarfs are under my car whispering very loudly as a group.

Hmm. It's not from the back end, is it?

Get some liquid gasket and we'll devalue those rubles.

Same sound as pre- axleback swappage. I forgot to axe you when I was at your casa.

Does it sound like a really quick fluttering/hissing noise, right from the turbo area?

If so, it's most likely wastegate flutter. It's really dang loud on my car with the TXS stealthback.

Here's a good NASIOC FAQ on WG flutter.

EDIT: After re-reading your description, it exactly like WG flutter.

I would get some brush on copper high temp silicone and coat the whole motor. This will fix it right up.

If you dont want to do that I'm sure someone down here at RS can look at it and find the leak.

Look for water seeping out of where the gaskets are in the TBE System. It would be alot easier it the winter time. Too "Good" it's spring!

hey I live in SLP also and I also have an exhaust leak I know what it sounds like. let me know if you want to roll over and I will check it out.

There is also a sea foam trick that works great if you want to do that, you will find the leak right away.

PM me if you need help

Heeeeeeeeeeeeee's baaaaaaaaa-ack. Ticking, clicking, etc. Used all new gaskets on my VF39 swap. Was quiet for months and is now making a racket. Only change post swap was the addition of a Whisper (vs. stock) axleback but all the noise is coming from the engine bay near turbo.
