Fluid recommendations

So I want to change my trans and rear diff soon, as of right now I believe there is Redline in the rear diff and I put Scotty's in the trans this summer. What do you guys suggest for the trans and rear diff? What weights and brands.

Next up what weight and brand for the rear diff?

 

I was using amsoil OE weight in the rear diff. never had an issue. but nate used the same and seems to think it is what caused his rear diff to fail.

 

I used synthetic and dont know if it was the amsoil though... but yeah.. 75w90 weight in the rear I believe

I would stick to something normal, Not the coctail, its scary.

really, just get some normal 75-90, probably not even syn.

you can run syn in either one, I dont find it really needed though.

 

I prefer royal purple, amsoil severe gear or eneos 75 90

 

IMO synth is tooooo thin for gears.. but hey.. $1000 later what do I know

 

you know that your rear diff failed and it cost you 1000 to replace it. lol

 

i would stay away from the "cocktail" worked great for a while (6 months), but now its terrible.

 

I ran it in mine and it definitely helped the synchros to bind better, but now I'm back to full syn and I notice no difference between now and when I was running the coctail.

 

I ran the cocktail in my wrx, but it will NOT be going into my forester.

Redline is the best transmission fluid I've found yet. I've used it in a lot of cars with great results. I've also tried/tested a lot of others and have yet to find one I like as much. Stay away from Royal Purple products; that stuff is junk. Its fine initially, but it wears out so much quicker than anything else (the additive packages deteriorate) its ridiculous.

 

Yep, I'm noticing the same thing. Scotty's worked great at first, then has consistently gotten worse. I'm going back to plain ol' valvoline.
