This is what I use. I also reuse it every year and it hasn't let me down. Figure it'll last me 2-3 seasons when left out through the winter. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sisal-Rope-0.25-x-100/16879705
I would go with twine. I used freaking kite string for my first year and didn't have any problems.. last year and this year, I went overboard with some 1/4" thick hemp-like rope from the Depot because I'm lazy and didn't want to shop around.
the rest of the new guys are all in individual pots all tiny and can't even reach they 6' posts on the edge of the pot
Racked my "hoptomic bomb" into secondary to dry hop yesterday on 3 oz of goodness. It is VERY hoppy, but it actually is pretty drinkable. The bitterness kind of keeps growing in your mouth for about 10 seconds after the first sip.... Brewed up an all Amarillo pale ale on this past friday, and I got another batch of a Bell's two-hearted clone in primary the week before. I showed my neighbor how to do all grain and he's hooked and won't be going back to kits any time soon.... I also helped him build a 2 tap kegerator and he pulled the first beer last night. Now if I could just get the cash put together for a HERMS I'd be in business! Need to hit up Midwest brewing and snag a couple more sacks of 2-row and a few other things as well, it's officially brew season again at my house! -Steve
Anyone looking for plants? Have a few that need homes. Here's the craigslist ad, I may also be able to get some Cascades- http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/grd/3040994476.html
hey the fuggle was not coming up so i dug into that pot and the biggest woody part was rotting. i separated out anything that was not rotting and planted that in new pots (better drainagge) with some compost, but nothings coming up at all. any thoughts?
Hmm, it was showing signs of growth from a couple spots. Rot is not good though and is probably not going to make a comeback but nothing would surprise me when it comes to the tenacity of these plants. Let me poke around my Fuggle planter and see what I can find for ya.
What are you kids doing november 1st at 6pm? http://www.ironbrewermn.com/competitors/round-1/ Week 4 Qualifier - Ted Weidman - he's s a Subie guy too.
Nice! Looks very healthy! What did ya brew? The Simcoe Blonde Ale we brewed is nearly carbed. Turning out very nice, these kegs are going to empty fast! I'll let ya know when it's ready for consumption
Yep, I will in a month or two. Seriously. I'm brewing 6 beers (well, 3 beers, different yeast making, technically 6 beers) for this Iron Brewer deal and I'm going to need some tasters.
Well I'll let you kids know a few days before everything is ready to put in your face hole. It will be the last week of October, either the 28th, the 29th or the 30th. Location: St. Bonifacius, MN. Tasters will be quarter-pintish-sizes.
30 gallons in the cellar right now. 2 full kegs, 4 full fermenters. Brewing again on Friday. what up boys?!
Hops Harvested and Dry: Chinook, Cascade, Centennial, Zeus, Matilda, and the Columbus are drying. Here's a shot of the low calorie(92 cal) hop bomb I made for the wife. Turned crystal clear with a dose of gelatin in the keg. So clear I could focus through the beer when I took the picture with my phone lol
so natalie just surprised me by buying all the parts to make a CFC ala http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/counterflow-wort-chiller-build-use-182236/ only problem is she said the total came to $130! while that thread claims $40-$60 I haven't seen the pile of parts, nor the receipt - but where do you think she got misled or mischarged?
The OP was written in 2010 and copper has probably gone up since. It is a big-jump, no doubt, so I would check into it. find out where she got the stuff. Your local Ace is going to be more than your regional gigantor-store.
ok we got it sorted out, the guy helping nat had I.D. and O.D. switched up and so we had a lot more copper weight It's more than I'd like, but I think I'll be quite happy
