Ever since I got my car back from the body shop my trunk release hasn't worked. After I picked it up I tried the release and it worked about three times, then it just went loose. I think that the cable must not be tight enough or something but I'm not sure. When I pull the release it just goes all the way back with no pop. Anyone have this problem before? Any suggestions on how to get it to work again. If there is a write up on how to do this could someone post it up please. I did a search and found nothing. Thanks in advance.

The car is a 04 wrx.

Dumb question is the lock on in the trunk?

No the lock so that you can not access the trunk from the cabin? There is a small switch you flip to disable the trunk release in the cabin from the trunk.

^ I think he means the release cancel switch. there is a little lever on the latch in the trunk that if flipped will make it so that the trunk release in the car doesnt work.

    There. Or here. Sometimes both.
How long have you had it back form the shop? If it hasn't been very long (under a week or two), the shop should fix it.

Well I just went out and looked at it, I am not sure whats wrong with it cuz I just pushed the cable and lever over a couple of times and it seems like the cable tightened up a bit. I then tried the release and it seems to work fine now, thanks again KSAL. Where did you put the zip ties?

I got my car back like april or may.

I put one zip tie on it just for good measure, the release pops it right open now.

Thanks to all for help and suggestions.
