well my towing on my insurance paid $150 and left me with the rest. if AAA will pay the entire bill on long distance tows (~175 miles) that would add a great deal to my sense of security?
with AAA you get 3 free tow's up to 100 miles each in a year. So in theory it would of been free and just used 2/3 free tows.
To answer your question, Readymixx has already covered it really well. IF you break down along the way, we do encourage some cars to stop and help a fallen brother/sister! We DO NOT stop the caravan though. Pulling 40-50 cars over, especially along hwy 60 is nearly an impossibility. We will be having a quick prayer over the cruise before departure fwiw. If you need a splash of holy water over your engine bay beforehand, please let us know in advance! Hahaha!
^^yeah that And fwiw, we usually hang at the back of the line, so if you break down we will be there to stop and help.
Also, give your car a once-over before the trip. I just did a walk around check of things on my car, and it turns out I need new front tires before the cruise, so I called up Discount Tire today to get them shipped to the store for Monday/Tuesday install.
Also, since nobody seems to have chimed in with a 360 degree video camera, I'll have to pick one of those up as well.
i had my tires rotated yesterday (they have less than 5,000 miles on them). i will re-tighten them by end of week. she's really ship shape but i wish the idle was a little higher. hasn't stalled yet but it sure gets close at the red lights!
Amazon had a deal on the Gear360 2017 model 360 camera for 91 bucks, I tossed in a 128GB Samsung EVO SD card with it (good for about 5-6 hours of 4k/360 video.) From the reviews I've read, it will actually record long video exposures, unlike the original Gear365 that would overheat at or before the 10 minute mark. With it mounted on my decklid, it should get plenty of cool breeze to keep it from overheating for the drive, so I should, in essence, be able to record the entire caravan portion of LaX in full 360* video. For you slackers that wont be able to make it to LaX, but have a VR headset, you'll be able to re-live the entire drive down there in VR. Congrats, but get your priorities in order. I also have an antenna mount for the camera, so it'll sit centered on the rear deck lid just behind the wind-break glass on the Z. Should make for a pretty nice, unobstructed view of the entire drive. It arrives tomorrow, so I'll have a few days to play with it so we're ready for LaX.
Here you go. This is with the older model Gear360 camera that wont be going with us. The new one arrives tomorrow. Pretty handy, using a useless antenna mount for mounting cameras, whoever came up with that idea is a genius.

Other wise if it only uses a usb source I have a large battery pack that you could toss in the trunk with the cord run to that instead if you wanna try that.
I also have a large USB battery pack. One of those 155Wh dealies. I suppose doing that would keep the out of the cabin.

I never had an opportunity to pay or make reservations for the night, and totally forgot I've got a party bus the night before, so chances are I'd never wake up in time Saturday morning.
Park your car at Walmart, have the party bus drop you off there at the end of the night and sleep in the car, have Josh wake you up in the morning. Problem solved.
We'll see if I can find a hotel on the cheap quick for Saturday night, in which case I'd go maybe and just take er' easy on the bus.
