IMG_20140625_210025_764.jpg IMG_20140625_204645_724.jpg Just changed tranny fluid on my 02 wrx. I found a few chunks of metal on the plug. The chunks are about 1/16-3/32 of an inch. Is this normal or am I going to die... or trans problems soon?

It hasn't done any grinding or weird shifting. Just changed it because I want to make sure I have extra-s in there.

Is there anyway to flush it? What can I use to flush it with?
Hopefully tomorrow when I change the rear differential it will look better.

Not good if that screw was in there.

Yeah I'm surprised you haven't felt or heard grinding...I would start preparing for trans failure even if you can still drive it for a while.

From what I have seen normal is like a fine powder on the magnet. You might want to start driving like grandma until you can find a replacement.

Wonder if that is gear parts or shift finger/synchro parts... Maybe start double-clutching if you want to extend life until you can get it pulled apart/swapped?

I always thought the wear material in synchros was brass or bronze...something non-metallic.

Yeah you're right, I was being sloppy, what I was trying to say was the dog teeth on the gears/collars. So part of the synchro system, but not the synchros themselves :)
