Has anyone had experience doim a muffler delete for an NA fozzy? A friend has me convinced to do it, just dont know what all i would need to do said muffler delete, besides piping
Without the UEL, it's going to sound like a honda (droning/buzzing sound) and SUPER LOUD. With a UEL, it's going to be burly, but still very raspy regardless, and SUPER LOUD. The welds on my muffler broke about a bit ago (had it welded up by a muffler shop too...wasn't even my crappy welding!) and it's not something you want on an N/A subaru. EDIT: Plus, there is all the police attention and other unwanted attention when trying to just drive somewhere in town. And the angry neighbor type of attention it's so loud. And the guy next to you who wants to race because your car is loud.
As others have said, DONT DO IT. It will sounds like a swarm of angry bumble bees and will be SOOOO LOUD and ****ty. Raspy loud ****. My friend recently went straight pipe on his old 911 and I told him it would sound like ****TTT but he didn't listen. He lasted like 3 weeks before putting the stock exhaust back on. So if you hack up your stock exhaust you will just be paying to have someone weld on mufflers again and you will be pissed that you wasted a bunch of money.
Agreed with the rest of them. My 1998 RAV4 muffler rusted out and it sounded just loud and was headache-inducing to drive. I had a cheapo muffler welded on and it quickly spat out what looked like a sooty hairball and then got noisy again. Later went to Performance Muffler & Brake in Blaine and they installed a Magnaflow muffler and resonator which ended up sounding quite nice with a bit of a low rumble. But yeah, don't just lose the muffler without replacing it with a resonator or something.
I have an NA with basically a deleted exhaust. I need these to drive it! Lmk if you end up needing a set!
Like many modifications, if you don't have time to do it right, wait until you do. You'll be much happier with the final product.
