Power steering pump changed due to excessive noise, no issue with steering.
Now after change of pump, hose clamps, o-rings the steering is excessively stiff.
Steering turns with one finger when off ground.

Thoughts, suggestions before taking to shop for rack and pinion diagnosis?

Probably have air in the system. You'll need to go full lock to full lock several times while keeping an eye on your fluid level. This should eventually get all the air out unless you have loose fittings or a leak somewhere.

I agree probably air in the rack and you should try bleeding it again.
Are you sure your pump was bad and not just the o-ring on the inlet to the pump? Mine was making a ton of noise and my steering was all wonky and the ps reservoir would get frothy from air bubbles and I just replaced the $2 o-ring on top and fixed it all up.

Yes, the mechanic researched the topic and replaced the o-ring, clamps and even put in a second pump. Indicated that he had bled the air from rack. He probably got good information from the members here at MNsubaru.
