Alright ladies and gents, I've been doing a lot of searching on replacing the clutch in my 09 wrx, I'm not at the point where I HAVE to do it now, but I wanna get things in line like my finances, for when I do. Thinking spring early summer maybe. I know this is a spendy affair. A couple questions came up when I starting doing my homework. First off, I made a call to a dealer in Rochester, I won't name anybody but they wanted 1800 out the door to do the job?! That seems extremely high on price. I know dealers are higher but I just wanted to check it out. Would I be better off buying my own kit and finding a shop to do it? Also done some searching and all I get is twin cities shops. Anybody got any recommendations in the Rochester area? If I went this route, I was looking at the exedy replacement. Yay? Nay? I don't intend to push this car high on hp so I'm not looking to buy a crazy setup. And no I can't do this install myself I don't have the knowledge nor the tools to do it. Pretty newb to the scoobs. Any and all information is helpful!

Not sure of the credible shops down south, but if your willing to make the voyage I am sure if you sent NFperformance a PM they can help you. As they specialize in subarus. Cant say I know how much a clutch job costs in a subaru but when i replaced one in my corolla back when it was ~800-1100. Since its not urgent I would window shop if you are looking around for shops down south of the cities. I know we have at least a handful of people that are down in that area on here. Not sure how many of them are currently active.

Wish you luck at finding a good shop!

I would stick with Exedy stage 1 clutch. Clutch job on that car should be roughly $1000 parts and labor. Maybe a little more for resurfacing the flywheel.

Thanks for the help guys! Like I said it's not something that is a 911 right now, but I don't always have a nice chunk of $ around at all times so I'm gonna have to plan accordingly. Ronnie that's what I've been finding online others have been forking out hence why 1800 seemed to be a tad bit crazy. If all else fails, and can't find a shop down here, I'll journey to the cities :)

We can do that clutch while you wait.

You have a good community here where members are informed and are willing to lend a hand. A heated garage, beer and pizzas will probably get that clutch done in no time with the help of some. Maybe save the beer until it's done haha.

I've never done one before so this would be pretty uncharted waters. I'm pretty good when it comes to mechanical things but like I said never done it so id be going in blind other than searching the net... What's the best way to tackle the job?

Alright guys, I was in today having the local Subaru dealer look at a small tidbit on my 09. I had them do another price quote on getting a clutch put in. They said that right now there is life left, but the sooner I do it, I may be able to get away without a new flywheel. I looked at the quote and it was a total of 1500 dollars, roughly 550 in parts, and 890 in labor.... No surprise there...

I went with an Exedy OEM replacement on my Stage 2 '07 wrx. I don't plan on many more power mods, so I think the OEM replacement is just fine for me. It hasn't shown any issues in the 6 months that I've had it.

As for a shop, I'd recommend NF. I know they aren't exactly local to you but they did my clutch in an afternoon and it was cheap in comparison to others.

Do yourself a favor and resurface the flywheel. Its not that much extra.

And I would also recommend contacting the other vendors here for a quote...it will be more reasonable than the dealer and it helps support our community.
