Ok, so the "auto" setting above 65, makes the car too warm inside, because I'm wearing a coat. I wouldn't be wearing a coat if it's above 65.

65 setting = the heat is off and it's pouring in cold outside air.

In "manual" mode, the heat setting at 65 is outside air. The one click above is HOT air.

Whatever happened to good old, give me some air with a little heat on it? Blue to red?

Is there ANY way to get this to behave differently? Some kind of re-program, new switches, something? What if I want just a little bit of heat, on a full fan speed? This is the first car I've had that this is not possible.

Does anyone else have this complaint, or is it just me?

I noticed this on new older (04-07) foresters, Its something that Ive never heard of an actual fix for, I dont think its widespread across the other models because my tribeca works fine, each degree feels warmer or colder than the last.

I know my 07 WRX when on bi-mode (foot and windshield) the air coming out of the foot vents is hot, and the air coming out of the defroster vent is cool.

Mine does the same thing. I thought I read something somewhere about a faulty temperature sensor that causes the "auto" setting to misbehave, but I'm not sure where I saw it, or if it even pertains to the 09 models.

The in-dash thermistor has been known to cause problems like that in Lexus Land.

Take your coat off when you get in the car or right before entering the car.

This is what I have had to do with my 09. I agree, the temp controls suck

    Kinda sounds like the issue.

My 06 STI behaves just fine.

When I go in for my oil change this week, I'll mention something to the dealership about it. Not likely to get anything done about it...the dealership in Rochester sucks.

In the meantime, I'll do what I have been doing. Cracking the sunroof :)

Lexie's 08 STi has the same issue. It's always too damn hot, or too damn cold. No happy medium.:(

I have to say in the Summer it works great. It is just the winter where it doesn't work.... they didn't think about the minnsota people that like the car between 50 - 65 when driving with a coat on.
