so today I got at O'Reilly to buy some castrol 5w30 because they have a special. when I get there I look at the big jug and it is shaped differently.
Then I read 4 QUARTERS and I think, maybe I just misread or got confused with how many liters are 4 quarts (because I think in liters). Then I read again, and read that it is 3.78 liters, and I tell the clerk, WTH why 4 quarters.

Then I check all the other brands and everybody is only making 4 quarts jugs.

now, what's the deal with that? have you guys noticed?

Walmart also sells 4 quarts of other oils. When I buy 5w40 Rotella at Walmart it comes in 4qt jugs.

It's a scam. I suggest you get in touch with a local prosecutor.

Yea, walmart just raised it up to $20 even
I noticed Autozone and Fleet farm still sells them for about $17.99

Whatever though, still better than that mobil one stuff

I was just surprised because 3 months ago they were selling only the 5 quarts and now only the 4 quarts. At walmart they had 5 quarts and it seems they still do.

Do most cars just need 4 quarts?

I think a lot of 4 cylinder cars use about 4 quarts or less, so they would rather buy a 4 quart than have a 5 quart with so much extra.

Then people who need more than 4 quarts can just pick up an extra quart bottle to get the amount they need

    That's my opinion on why

I was actually a little disappointed yesterday, that all I could find at WM for Castrol 5W-30 was 5-qt jugs. Nice when I'm changing my truck's oil, but the 2 SR20DE cars I have only use 4qts.

I have always used Castrol in the cars where I don't use synthetic. I use Mobil in the ones that do. I used Syntec once and it was an ugly thing. I'd use it in a very new or very clean engine, but I wouldn't switch to it on an older engine.

how did u have a bad experience with Castrol Syntec?

say wat if the engine was swapped with 30K for me it shouldnt be bad for it should it? i plan on lab testing the oil sometime in future with castrol syntec

I run synthetic in my forester w/o any problems. Started running it around 90k miles and never had a problem... currently at 120k.
