I guess you'd have to see it, the center of the hub on the Datsun front hubs fits through the wheel, except for the last 1/8" or so. It widens out at the bottom. I read on the Roadster forums that people have ground this down with a die grinder before. I don't think it'd apply to a newer hub design, but on this it is just cast iron/steel parts, and there is plenty of thickness to shave off a 1/8" of the diameter. Apparently this is standard operating procedure for Panasport wheels.
Well, I just looked, and I actually know where my die grinder is. If you want to come to S. Mpls you can borrow it. Just keep in mind that it takes a pretty good sized compressor, or a lot of patience.
Might have to just make a trip to Menards. The cost of gas to S. MPLS twice to pick up and return will just about cover the cost of a new one, lol. I thank you for the offer though, for sure. I think a die-grinder would probably come in handy around the garage, so I'll just buy one.
That sounds about par for the course. I've read more bad things about their customer service than good things. Then then that Mike Huml jackass will go and start calling names in the threads where people are making note of the service they received from his company. Real professional. Back when I was thinking about building up my car, SBR was by far at the bottom of my list to purchase a turbo from.
nice build several years ago when ordering stuff for my dsm through sbr i had no problems so that sucks you are.. cant wait to see this done!

(same as this)
Rust, lots of rust. 90% of the spots are no big deal. But there is one spot that might make this whole project scrap.
it can all be fixed, its just going to be a lot more involved than originally thought. Dude, I told you we can get the pans taken care of when Mike and I are both in town next weekend, the few other spots are just going to be tedious and tricky.
pics.... everything is fixable (except ej20's ability to make comprehensible sentences) it will just take time, patience and $$$$$
If you say so, man. I worked sheetmetal for a while, and even with all the giant and precision bending tools in that shop, I don't think I am capable of making that piece on the windshield support...that's a stamped thing. I'll take your word for it though, I'm picking up those calipers today while we're at the MAP thing. So it isn't like I'm jumping ship yet.
but when you tub it out. you have to tub the "body" too. you know to fit those massive fatties in the back?
I'll have to work on pics taking later, I have to get showered up and out the door here in an hour to get to MAP.
There is no rust aft of the floor pans. The rear of the car is pretty much immaculate. All of the problem spots are the inside body structure, not the visible exterior panels.
Oh no. I think I know which piece you are talking about. That's crappy. I'll see you at MAP and we'll chat.
We thought it did, but apparently we don't understand the dark spirit world and how they do business. It's still here, and apparently it's really pissed that we would try to pass it off to someone else encased in an EJ22T.
we'll figure something out man, as I have stated... I am not saying it can't be done by any means, its just going to be more involved than you had thought.
anything can be welded, anything can be ground back down, butt welds and lap welds, Even though i havent seen it, I promise it can be fixed....you should have seen my dad's camaro when he bought it.....whew, but now its awesome, no rust at all!
Come over next weekend and take a look, Erik. We'll be working on it for sure. You can give me your thoughts on it too, as I've seen you patch some stuff.
have you joined this site yet: http://www.japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/index.php?sid=c21689471051282c52640574b0efd99d looks like it could be a really good resource. here is a thread about a roadster meet in CA: http://www.japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1075 http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/article.cgi?section=events&article=solvang2008
I've checked over that site a few times. Lots of good pics. There is actually a Fairlady Roadster forum. It isn't very active, but the Solvang meet is a big meet for them for sure.
cool. i really wish i were closer to the cities while projects like this are going on. i would love to be able to help. these kinds of cars are too damn cool. right now i have a thing for the old RWD dodge colts from the 70s.
Well, I'll post up whenever we are workign on it. Usually on weekends. You are welcome to hop down anytime we're working.
i will keep an eye out and if it ever happens to coincide with a time i am in the area i will try to pop in. my parents live in rochester and my brother lives in menominee. so i get through the cities every now and then. the trick is what to do with the kids.
well they would be pretty entertaining for a while and then crash. so i guess it is a win-win scanario.
I just looked at your thread with photos and I like that slick intake manifold and topmount turbo manifold. Making good progress.
