Hey guys, I was wondering if you could tell me common problems (aside from the notorious phase 1 HG problems) with the 97 Legacy 2.5GTs. I was offered one for my Eclipse and have been thinking about it a lot. Also, if I decided to swap the motor, could an ej20 fit in there (obviously with some fabbed motor mounts) with little problems. Little as in, not having to cut the firewall or engine bay in any way; or needing to tunnel/fit driveline parts. Thanks for the help guys.

other then h/g's they dont have a ton of problems, and any ej series engine will bolt right up using stock motor mounts , tranny mounts exhaust, ect, ect probably as easy of a swap as any other car made

yah, i second what he said. if you do some google searchign you can find out if there werre recalls or nayissues about the car.

and about the swap. it is straight forward, you will not need to mod any part to make it fit, it should just drop right in.

ok fine. the x-member is differnet on a turbo vs. non turbo subaru. so if ou do the swap you will need to use the turbo x-member (should come w/a front clip) or else you will need to find one off an old turbo legacy or a WRX/STi.

the other option is to bash/cut the x-member to make room for the uppipe.

i found a picture that show the two together and the piece that is different. i will have to dig it up, i think its on my other computer.
