2008 Lake Superior Performance Rally, Oct 17 & 18

Those were good times! Although everytime I'd see someone shoot through there I'd cringe a little bit at the sounds the cars were making :ugh:

 

I was very glad that Carrie and I only had to opened Echo Lake for first pass. I think the Audi was doing 000 for 2nd pass.

Seconded. Though I may not get to have my 2.5 week vacation I had planned on to go up there so I may have to wait until spring when my favorite rally isn't going on

 

Most of you have probably seen this, but it's still good.

at 6:37 I am pretty sure that is the finish of the last stage and you will see Amy's blue wagon there. That was the onlyplace we saw cars all weekend (other than service and parc expose)

Good find. I haven't seen this one. At 2:31 I think I see their right front fender liner leave the party.

When we picked the spot for our chairs at the final finish we did some "that looks about right" figuring to find a safe place. But when Travis down shifted at the yellow signs and came flying through the timing lights at warp 3 I looked at Carrie and said, "I'm not sure we're in a safe spot." I hadn't figured on how fast these guys really drive. Amazing...

Three weeks and we'll be having breakfast in Houghton!

 

Is anyone leaving Thursday for MI?

I have classes and there is no chance of me getting out of them, so it doesn't look like I'll be able to head out until Thursday

If anyone else is and would want to meet up so my friend and I don't have to make the trip up alone lmk.

 

I think that's when I'm leaving. Unfortunately the GF... or should I say, ex-gf won't be coming to the rally. So now it's looking like it might only be two of us

 

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Want to drink it off Sat. at the pre rallyx party?

Whoooo hoooo!!! Gotta love the rally-x. Unfortunately I work until 9:30 Saturday night. I'll give you a call when I'm done and if you guys are still partying it up, I'll totally stop by. I still have to put the stock rs suspension on the car and pull the front lip off, then it will be party time! :biggrin:

 

I'll be leaving the ciies on Thu evening, but actually pretty late. My plane doesn't arrive back here in MPLS until 7:30pm, and then I need to get home, change what I have packed a little, and start driving to the UP. So I won't be leaving until 8:30 or 9pm. And I'm not going all the way to Houghton until Fri evening. I'm heading to Iron River, catching some sleep, and then on to the Friday stages directly.

I'll be running a spectator point on stages 5 & 7. More details once the official announcements of the spectator locations happens.

 

I'm hoping to still leave early Thursday to make Kenton by Noon (dumb time change makes it an even longer trip). May have to stow my co-driver, Jason Beck, with someone else for the ride up unless he can switch an 11 a.m. Thurs. class at school to another day.

Dan, glad to hear you got things figured out. I'm sure you'll Sara will let you have your man parts back when you get back from LSPR.

Someone start a new thread with caravan times for the drive up to the race from the Cities and in between.

If I make the drive up to the Cities in two weeks I'm still planning on heading up to the UP on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. I'd like to stop at South Shore Brewery in Ashland, though I don't have a DD/codriver so perhaps I'll just get a growler and go.

Does everyone take the route through Duluth? My folks sometimes take Hwy 8 through WI instead though I still think US 2 is faster.

 

I don't think I will need the man parts now that I'll be losing the rights to the lady parts after this trip.:laugh::laugh:

 

If anyone wants to go to LSPR and split room costs...

I have a room at the Downtowner on the main drag of Houghton for Friday and Saturday nights. 2 beds, non-smoking, about $75-80 a night as I recall. This is stumbling distance from the best bars (Library, Doghouse, etc.) I'm the only person in it and am looking for someone responsible who can split the costs. (I usually pay in advance now at check in as someone a few years back decided to leave before paying on the Sunday after the event. I finally tracked him down and got paid over a month later.) Shoot me an e-mail at comicozzie (at) juno (dot) com and I'll work out the details. Depending upon my employment, or lack of, status currently I haven't made plans to be there on Thursday yet, but that may change here in a few days. Unfortunately, I can't take you out to the stages, sorry.

Day after tomorrow I start my 9 days of rally. Flight to Manchester NH just after noon.

CARL! remember to take time off of work today for LSPR!

 

Ham radio and rally odo are swapped to wagon, had to resolder antenna wire yet again. Picking up rally rims with newer tires installed after work. When I get home I will start pulling together clothes and pack my spares box of stuff: extra banner tape, stakes, hammer, hatchet, tools, brake fluid, ps fluid, atomic clock, ham radio scanner for boomer, and spare brake lines (if you have them you won't need them ). I thinks its safe to pull the sunscreen and bug spray out of the box for this trip.

Thanks to Flatline, Rallygirl and Rallywife, the truck is loaded, the car is done and we are ready to hit the road. We even fixed all the damage Kevin did to the RallyCross car so we are ready for the nats also!

 

Yay for the scanner It will sure be nice to know what is going on. Wish I could have gotten a radio and liscense before LSPR but the baby on the way told me that all the fun money is his. Just got most everything together last night and now I have a couple days of wondering what I forgot to pack. I won't figure that out until I need it though.

Well we're hoping for a boy but we should be finding out Thurs. Then again it makes more sense that it's a girl. They have a way of absorbing fun money in a hurry. (Waits for smack from wife)

 

All babies absorb fun money! Noah was our first, and wow, actually the first one absorbs more, especially if you keep baby stuff.

So the true reason for not coming to LSPR to banner...need to go to ultrasound! They are really cool.

 

Correction- Dan is still bannering on Thursday. However, he's going to banner the doctors office instead of a stage. :biggrin:
