Car is packed except for clothes and snacks. Not hard to pack clothes, you just have to bring enough clothes for every conceivable weather possibility because they will all happen over an LSPR weekend.

I got a chance to experienc Brockway Mountain at LSPR last year co-driving for Amy as 000. It was amazing. I can see why it is some ralliests favorite rally.

    Another good video of it:

The elevation change lets you stay on boost for a long time, making for great torque and an incredible ride. :) Just have to forget about falling off a mountain should you go through the not so sturdy looking wooden posts along the road.

Don't forget to watch ESPNs three part broadcast of last years LSPR on youtube . The third video includes incar from the crash Mark came upon in the above video, talk about heart stopping.

Not sure I could get more excited for this weekend.

Have a safe drive up everyone. Don't forget the Michigan Troopers know we are coming. Hard not to laugh that they still use the gumball roof light.

You can ride in the trailer, even more exciting that way.

Yes we will Dave. I don't need any more tickets on the way to rallies.

    HA!!!

But on a more serious note, I'll probably be leaving around 2 or 3 because my buddy has to work until 1. I fully plan on stopping by in Ashland for a while to fill up my growler and have a cold one before shoving off. What time are you guys planning on shooting through Ashland? Maybe I could meet up with you there and follow the way up.

I recall spectating at the big yump on Brockway for years before they closed it. I was there the last year they allowed spectators in and I am fully in support of them choosing to close it off. It was just such a zoo that year and it was a lot of locals that were just pushing the rally regulars around. Having been to WRC events the spectators' proximity to the road wasn't that out of the ordinary but they had no respect for the Gp2/Gp5 cars that came through later as they all herded out back to the parking lot past the finish. They were walking in the road as some of those guys came through! And to think that only the year before it had been only about 30 people up there sitting on folding chairs well away from the road so that everyone had a good view.

I also recall someone blowing all 4 struts on their DSM launching off that hill, limping it back to service, and our wonderfully brilliant crew somehow getting it back to life for the next stage :)

I remember working the finish on Brockway two years ago and hearing squealing tires and then thump, thump, thump as a rally car took out three of the little white posts. The next car on the road seemed to take a lot more than a minute but turned out to be a minor off.

About 25 hours from now I'll be on the ground in MN again. Then go repack, decide if I'm going to swap radiators on the G, and get some sleep. Leave probably pretty early, since I'll be on EDT still, and head to Iron River, buy pasties, start closing our cabin, and head on up to stage 5/7 just a little south of Kenton, where I'll be the a-hole telling everyone "No, you can't stand in front of the tape." "No, you still can't stand in front of the tape!"

Well, it looks like I'll be staying at the Super 8, not the Travelodge.

    The Manchester, NH Super 8.

Stupid Northwest m***********s. The last time a corporation pissed me off this bad it cost them over $4M in business. Not sure how I'm going to manage that with NWA but I'll give it my best shot.

    Enjoy the rally guys.

Looks like I'll be in Michigan today after all. Detroit that is. At least I won't be in Manchester anymore, and at this point, that's what really counts.

Could you plead with them to route you through Houghton? I don't think there are Mesaba flights direct to Houghton from Detroit but you can get as close as Marquette and maybe someone would pick you up, stay for the rally (albeit without car), and then hop home on the Mesaba flight from Houghton to MSP.

    Thanks Greg,

At Ojibwe, Doug had the mechanical and driving trouble. At LSPR, it was our turn. A spin/stall that cost us 30 seconds on Friday and a fuel pump issue cost us about the same the second half of Saturday. We were planning on 2nd 2WD and hoping to scare Doug a little bit. Mission Accomplished!

Kelly, thanks for the Great Shot!

    Haha, you're welcome guys!

I got to bed around 12 something, it could be that I was used to going to bed around 4-5 all weekend  so I really struggled to get to bed even though I was super tired. But I'm glad you guys enjoyed the shot, that stage looked like a lot of fun :)

Fun time this weekend with way to little sleep. Huge thanks to my MNSubaru crew for helping me out Friday morning with a tire rubbing issue. And to CPD for loaning me a pair of rims at Friday's service. One of the rims was super out of balance and threatening to kill my car. Didn't know till later that the loaners were ones Jeff Moyle used at Xgames, kinda cool.

Can't belive I got my first fender dent while driving down the middle of a road. When Whiskers first mentioned it I thought he was pulling my chain cause I hadn't hit anything but a few potholes on the road. There in lay the trouble. While dodging potholes, I must have hit one when my wheel was turned and the suspension compressed enough to drive the tire into the wheel arch. Whiskers knocked it out enough for us to continue but what a bummer. Good news no other damage than the fender and we're talking, what, 10 bolts to swap it. Just need to find a decent price on a WRB WRX wagon fender now. Very tempting to go shopping with a socket wrench and extension at Saturday's service area since there were tons of Subarus around.

The weather was perfect, save for 26 deg by late Friday night. Found a great place to watch with the MNSubie crew that night too. That's the life!

looking at thos pictures reminds me how much of a good idea it was to integrate the national and regional start lists into one big start list rather than starting all the regional cars after the national cars.

there were some very fast regional cars that would have been stuck behind some slow national cars under the old method.

I have a bunch of videos I'll post up within the next couple days.

Amy, very sorry about your car, but like I said...It ain't a true subaru without a dent or two:biggrin:

btw- it was cool as heck to have you and jason watch the late friday night stage with us:cool:

Sheen & Dan....thanks for everything. You guys made the trip sooo much fun.

Kelly, thanks for the Ashland brewhouse dinner, it was excellent:yumyum:

Even though the organization of the event (at least for marshaling) wasn't up to par with Ojibwe I still had fun and learned much about my new addiction to rally:) I don't think there's a doctor out there that can cure me:laugh:
