this year there wont be nearly as big of a course as last year. we are going to have to start right before the boat landing then there will be a long stretch, at the end of that there is a circle turn around. After that there are a few corners and thats about it.

I was seriously thinking about canceling it due to all of the slush, what I have plowed is not slushy, and hopefully some other spots will freeze up good so we can make it longer. I am doing my beast to get something made, but I cant make the snow/slush go away:)So please dont complain about the course being small, its that or cancel it.

move the date back? of course people have already got work off and blah blah blah. I wouldn't be opposed to pushing it back to a later date

Hmm. I'd say keep this event going and try to plan a 2nd event later in Feb or early March again.

Thanks for all the effort you're putting into this Rich. It's too bad the slush is killin' ya up there. I wish there was something we could do to help. Maybe the warmer weather this weekend will make things easier to plow?

yes we will find a way to make it all work better, even if that means burying my car in slush to pack down some driving areas.

we just can't get a happy medium, last year there was no snow and now we have too much.

either way i can't wait

I don't know what kind of temps you are slated for up there, but we are looking at mid 30's this weekend. everything is going to become slush.

Is it plowable at the end of the day as the slush is starting to freeze, but is not totally frozen yet?

Everyone could just remove their plates while they are filming. or put on funny fake vanity plates instead.

I am going to try hard to come up saturday. If things go right I will try and be there before you people wake up so I can get some laps in. I might be bringing a few people with me. I am not sure if they will want to drive or just ride along.

so not the point. it has nothing to do with who's doing it, and everything to do with what/where they're doing it.

So, there is a private room open in cabin 3.

does anyone have a truck i could pay to borrow for ice race weekend? i have a truck and trailer lined up to bring my car up but the truck fell through so now i need to find one.

i was going to get the truck and trailer for $100 for the weekend...now they dont have the truck and i'm paying 50 for just the trailer. you do the math on around what i'd like to pay to borrow the truck for the weekend.

    Local News or Not?

I feel really bad about this News shoot I wanted to do. I have never intended to spark this much debate. I am a Subie owner and to me it's the number one car in the world - that's why I joined MNSubaru. The putting it on local news thing was my idea and now I have abandoned it. Although I would love to bring my camera equipment to shoot for the website or what ever need the group feels. It's my little way of contributing to the group. The video will never see NEWS! I promise! To me just seeing all the Subie's together in one place is cool enough for me. Last August I went and hung out with Travis Pastrana and Ken Block for 2 days shooting a racing story on them, When I pulled into Bemidji and saw all those Subaru rally cars, I forgot that I didn't take my camera out of the rig. So don't worry about the camera stuff, go out and have fun, that's what it's all about. if your interested to see my story on Travis and Ken here is a link. http://comomodseries.com/mov/INTHEPITRALLYAMERICA.wmv
plus I have a myspace and flickr at

I dont have a problem with you making a story, I think it would be kinda cool to have some exposure. Im going to try to get a license for next year so it should be all legal.

He doesnt have to disclose the eact place of the race, he can just say it was in northern Mn. I dont see how any bad can come of this as long as he doesnt put peoples names in it.

people are only thinking the worse cause of the shenanigans that happen after dark...

if you dont want it exposed then stop posting about it all over teh forum... take the camera.... if Rich is ok with it then whats the issue...

wrong. pretty sure anyone smart enough to get a job is smart enough to know to keep the evening shenanigans off the air.

the daytime stuff would be borderline. I think since it would be from the point of view of a supporter, it shouldn't be anything to worry about. But if the driving force of the story was someone against it, it could easily be cast in a very negative light.

tru dat... but what I mean is all it would take would be a small section of drunken bums (tongue in cheek comment) launching cars of jumps, screaming out onto the lake when there are people standing around with NO lights yada yada.. I personally VOTE that RICH rides his bike through the bonfire for the camera AGAIN.. put that on there... ha ha

I enjoyed my time last year.. just had no budget to go this year... I think the night shenanigans are just that.. letting loose and am ok with it all... didnt affect me..
