Don't worry, Rich, I am perfectly capable of lifting a finger or two and cleaning up after using someone else's stuff.
big sissy here. had to by a new $2500 laptop again for school so i'm broke. In other news at least now I have a new macbook for sale.
good thing, but for some reason all the people who are backing out want their deposits back. That was the whole reason for deposits in the 1st place. read post 433
Hmmm, tantilizing. I had taken the 11th off for this, but all the cabins were full so I figured I was ****ed. Now, I probably could go but spent most of the monies, lul
Any chance of fresh ice thickness numbers? Weekend's Quattro club event got cancelled earlier today due to uncertainty about ice condition, so I'm concerned about ice up north too.
Since im not one who asked for my deposite back, maybe I can offer my opinion. If these were non-refundable deposit's, you should have stated that from the beginning, in the fist post. Not in some random post in a 800 post thread. We all know somebody will be sleeping in the spots of the people who dropped out, so its not like these spots are going unpaid or unused. Either way, you can keep my deposite, I guess I never expected it back.
good for you. Also I thought it was mentioned in the first post. I am guessing the reason he did not mention it is because he started this thread back in september and if someone signed up then but something came up no big deal because there was plenty of time to let someone else take the spot. Where now the closer the event gets the tougher it is to phill the spot since people were not planning on being able to go. either way, I understand what you were saying dream. and what is your new ride since you got rid of the STi??
so whats the point of a deposit if it is refundable? ill just throw my money down, and when i decide not to go i will get it back...not really a deposit if you ask me.
personally I think a deposit is that.. you pull out you lose... thats the risk.. but in this case there area gadzillion people all over the floor etc, so giving back some deposits (minus paypal fees etc) shouldn't be an issue... remember Rich is running a business regardless of whether he is a club member hosting this at his estate...
doesnt bother me either way, I jsut figured that if people were going to fill in then it would make more sense to actually sell my spot to someone else, but don't want to go through the hassle of doing that when other people already didn't do the same before me and have available spots. if the whole thing gets filled up then all these non refundable deposits jsut make up extra income anyways. wish I could be there, but unless someone buys one my of laptops tomorrow there isn't a way I can make that happen.
I have a buddy that is interested in going, he is going to get back to me thursday. I would say hes pretty much a go, just has to check his work schedule for friday to figure out when he can leave. I'll post when I know more.
I agree, but it should have been posted in the first post. I can think of many times I put money (deposit) down on an item to hold it but decided not to buy and I got my money back. Like I said, it should have been posted from the beginning, in the fist post. Either way, have fun guys and take pics!
A refundable deposit will keep the number of handraisers down when compared to no deposit at all. To pony up 50 bucks or whatever it was and have it held for a month or two will at least show that you are at the very least semi-serious about attending.
I'm having to duck out too... I got too much stuff unfolding in life right now. I figure my (double) deposit will hook Rich up with teh phat monies, or at least get me a break on the next event.
The money does NOT go to me, my parents own & run the resort--therefore, they get the money. Last year was the same with the no refunds--it's not something new we are doing. The Resort is always run with no-refundable deposits needed to hold cabins. With all of the drop-outs, we could have had an open cabin to rent and make more money from snowmobilers or ice fishermen.
Right, Rich and his family have been extreamly accomodating for us, and have given us a deal of the century on the weekends rates. Heck if they wanted they could make us pay what everyone else pays and book it.
and its fine by all of us that the money is going towards that. Can't help that life gets in the way of fun for people sometimes.
Ill be up there around 6pm. I have a meeting at work at like 11. So ill be leaving right after that. Im excited to meet all you guys and kick your asses on the ice... :-D
