Went to gastoff house for the last weekend of oktoberfest. As always, I got stupid drunk. Yes, I had a DD :) Only drink one kind of beer the whole time i was there.. hacker-pschorr oktoberfest. I didn't even want to try the paulenstiner (SP?) because I know how much I cannot stand it.

I must say, this year I'm not sick of oktoberfests yet. Last year after gastoff's I was done for the year. But yet, last year I couldn't show self control in beverage consumption and was a little sick. :puke:

That looks like a sweet time man! I'll have to make it out there at some point.

Completely agree. Went on the most unique brewery tour of my life there a couple years ago. This place brewed a number of Belgian beers using the yeast out of the natural air and spontaneous fermentation. It was fabulous.

Ok, back to the subject. I also agree with Ryan, as everytime I go to Gastoff's, I seem to gravitate to the Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest.

Real lambics are amazing. Most folks here never try true lambic without fruit though, I think it's called gueze? Reminded me a bit of that wierd beer in Mexico made with agave.

We had an unplanned stop in Leuven, Belgium when all the hostels in Brussels were booked. It just so happens to be the home of Corporate InBev and Stella Artois. Excellent brewery tour and talk about laid back people...

I also had a very good beer from the Augustiner monastery in Salzburg, Austria. Other then that, holy tourist trap!

Yeah. That is the type of beer the place I linked above specialized in. Very smooth and flavorful, not hoppy, and often a little more carbonated then American beers.
