Nice! Way to go guys! Glad to hear that you had a great Father's Day Mike. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Congrats to Musashi! You definitely earned it...I finally convinced myself to buy a short throw shifter after missing 3rd on every single run I made. I also ended up having to re-time my car after the distributor let loose in the middle of one of my runs. Anyways, glad that everyone had a good time...Subarus definitely dominated the field this year. I have some excellent pictures and video from the event that I'll upload in the next few days or so.
I am sad that I missed this event. Although I am pretty sure I would have been more bummed being there with nothing to drive. I cant wait to see more pics! Congrats to Musashi for taking home the gold. Next year I will be there with 5spd and turbo... Now who wants to help pull a transmission... lol
video of one of my runs (looks like my third). hit the "more from this user" link to see some videos of the mustangs in our group. my pictures I was having trouble getting my camera to focus, so I got a ton of pictures that looked like crap. but this one was worth posting. I believe this was just moments before Musashi swapped ends for the third time in the same run
Nice, its amazing how your car sat down in the rear on your runs compared to what is is at rest. Nice pics Thanks
Chux-There were soo much room they could of at least done a Rally Cross! Could you imagine that at a Corvette event.....I dont think so. LOL But perhaps a possible site for one. I really enjoyed those pictures. Your car is amazing out there. How do you guys know it was me doing the hokey pokey out there, it could very well be my nefew. Here is the story from inside the drivers seat. First I had not driven this car for awhile and last time I drove it I knew it had ALOT more bite when it came to braking. So I launched the White STI into space with all the wheels spinning, WOT quickly short shifting into 2nd right before the end of the gate, lifting right before the first cone to load the front to get around, back on WOT down the slalom stretch, lifting before the last one to load the front to setup for the right turn, make the turn, back on WOT down the second set of slaloms. Made it thru all the straight line slaloms, I tried to setup for the kinked cone by slowing down, but I was carrying way too much speed, I start to squeeze the brakes, the car starts to get a little squirly, by this time I start feel the RT-615 start to become greeze lighting, it looks like I'm going to make the cone, but I could use a little less speed coming in so I squeeze just a bit more and thats all she wrote. Oversteer-right off the course and into the field. Got out, did a 360, took care of the first tight hairpin, tried to straighten out to clear the first cone and another oversteer. By now I am just laugh my head off out load, because I my best time is out the window or in the weeds. I just keep pushing the car trying to sort it out for another HOT RUN. I go WOT into the second hairpin, twice the size of the first yah too hot, and almost went thru the cones, had to straighten out and do some serious braking to get the car to turn. Got around the carolsel and its back to WOT down the long stretch into the Chachaine. Again coming in super hot, tried to setup for a quick right left sweeper, cleared both and than spunout going into the slow section into another right. I cleared the finish line all in one piece. I could not figure out why the car was soo tail happy till after talking with Mike W. and he had the same experience with the RT-615. So I had to dial it down to less than half the paddle to get it around the course w/o spinning. What I think happened was because I took the first slalom section super hot the tires overheated to the point where it just became greese in the second section and we lost all traction. This style of driving might sound like someone you may have heard of (Collin McRae). (yeah right) I am use to driving this car at WOT at DCTC without the spinning around, but I think the difference was in the tires. And I think it was because of this run that I took home first place and not my fast lap. LOL You see this is the problem with me and autocross events, I get to a short technical course and what do I do, I hit it hard, forgetting about timing, I am going to go WOT! And thats the way it is! Now if you put me into a car with less WHP maybe we won't be spinning as much, or maybe not. LOL
Nice pictures, Matt. I'm still waiting for my brother to stop uploading his pictures so I can start uploading mine. Anyways, I figured out why my car was missing and seemed to lack power...and why oil was spraying everywhere under my hood:
Congrats guys, way to bring it out for MNSubaru. Thanks for the pics and write-up, I've had the same problem with the 615s. Sorry I couldn't be there.
Yeah but most of us just lift the right foot when it happends, Musashi gives it more and makes a great show of it, not once but 2 more times.
It was the least I could do to help out my old car. It was trying to tell me to get these POS off. I should of done more, could of done a burn out on all four, but would of had to pay the ultimate price, smackdown by the hands of the owner. :emo: I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, I'm still waiting to see if anyone got it on video.
