    First weekend of October sounds good! Better chance of colors changing then. September too early.

    October for me, I'll be on my honeymoon from sept. 19th to the end of the month.

    The 2nd, 3rd, or 4th weekend in October is the best weekend for Northern Minnesota foliage color change. Ideally the 3rd weekend is the best. The 1st weekend is almost too early and the 4th weekend is almost too late. It's a fine balance that all depends on how early the cold weather starts in the fall.

    I used to go to UMD and would drive to and from the cities quite a bit and have been to Duluth often ever since I was a kid.

    I say we shoot for the 2nd or the 3rd weekend.

    I'm also game for a twisty, po-po free, alternative route to Duluth from the cities as previously suggested.

    My experiance is that the 1st weekend also has leaves changing. I went to lutsen one year and it was Oct 10th and a lot of the leaves had changed or fallen at that point. With that being said I will go any weekend.

    Same here. I had suggested first weekend of October because some had mentioned September, but any weekend in October is good!
