I never said it was the pinnacle of motorsports, but it is a serious motorsport that deserves respect. you seem to think it's morons fooling around in a parking lot. have you ever seen a national level autocross event? or even nationals themselves? it's the most precise driving I've ever seen, with some of the most crazy, built cars I've ever seen. hell, even locally we have a miata that is down to 1800lbs, 11" wide slicks and 300hp. look at speedyham's build thread, and tell me this isn't serious.

That's why i asked if map was serious or not.

But by all means, tom, enlighten me as to the timed motorsport event you compete in, that gives you the right to take a superior stance?

Ever seen a mickey mouse watch calculate seconds down to the thousandth? that's what the gap between 1st and 2nd place in STX was 2 weeks ago. .001 seconds.

    Again, lighten up, sir.

And to answer your question, I certainly compete in timed motorsport events. However they involve only 2 wheels, typically last between 1 - 1.5 hours and have anywhere from 80 - 200 competitors on the same circuit at the same time. Not only is it extremely phycially demanding, it's also very mentally demanding as well -- if you slip up and miss you line by even a few inches, serious injury or death is very real.

    Again, serious business.

A drift course and AutoX course combined should be interesting. You drive well in autoX, try this time with a little more speed to where you spend more time at the cars edge instead of quick transitions. If you take autoX as serious as you do, you shouldn't have a problem running any course!!!!

AutoX proved to be a bit slow for my tastes especially events setup at the Midway Stadium, Central Parking lot.... ValleyFair is a much better location as it is bigger. That's more comparable to the Milwaukee Region SCCA Solo Autocross that I've ran, which are held at the east lot of the Miller Stadium. I don't enjoy autocross as much as highSpeed track and drift. Same goes with some who think drifting is wack... Think of it as another skill to obtain.

You can't become a great driver if you're still at 1st base.

Have you tried one of the DCTC events? Its more like a mini road course. Check out the Corvette event at the end of August if MAC seems to rigid for you...

I have driven down there. That is what's fun! I've also driven the Hiway Safety Center. Both good facilities for the Twincities.

The reason the event wasn't posted on local SCCA forums and such is that its not a sanctioned event. Its was something else that is exciting to do and take up time in between classed drag runs.

If your saying that we don't have any interest in guys doing AutoX / Road course stuff your mistaken.

I am currently arms deep in a Redline Time Attack build. (2002 WRX) that will be traveling the US to all the Redline events in S-AWD class. I myself have alot of auto X experience from when I was in Michigan, that is all there was to do as there is 3 road courses and they all wanted to much to run on open days.

Again, the main focus of the event is Drag racing. It at Brainerd International Raceway which is known for the fastest drag strip in the United Stated. Not the newly entered road course.

Rain is in the forecast for Friday & Saturday, at this time it's too early to tell when the rain will be arriving, but if it does Drag racing will be out of the picture, but this should make the other two very entertaining to watch and drive in!!!

Many thanks to the staff at MAP, Elite and EPDC as well as BIR for host the first and awsome event that went without a hitch. The music was great, the fireworks was insane. The amount of seat time was draining. We couldn't of asked for much better weather than what we got. You guys ROCK!

are you guy gonna post up any result for the Drag, AutoX, drift???

I had a lot of fun! What was MORE fun was running the autoX for FUN and making it in the top 3 fastest times! There was a lot of seat time vs $$$$. This event went well, IMO. I had fun!!!

I'm glad you and your gf were able to come up and spend some time with us. It was really nice to finally meet you. Your STI is one awsome piece of machinery! Stick with us and we'll show you how to make her come to life just like this weekend. And indeed Mt. Fuji is a very talented driver one I'm previllaged to be friends with. He also said you're not a bad driver yourself. Again thanks for give us the opportunity to stretch the legs on your beautiful Red-Bellied Black viper!

Thanks again for allowing me to drive the STi. I didn't know it'd be that fast how it was with just a turboback and tune; stg2!!!!! I know there are better drivers out there. I just drove how I know how to drive. Chong is a very good driver that I'd like to learn some from as well! Even though I did drive pretty fast, I thought it was actually sloppy because I really didn't get to do many runs to get the hang of the course. I tell you that the FIRST run was something though!!! 10 runs total including the shootout!!

You did well! Gotta start somewhere you know. Just come join us at the events!!!

I think the most entertaining of all for me from this weekend was hearing and watching Vandde try to top you boys on the 1320 and trying to autox after a parade lap and than trying to replicate my run in his wrx. LOL I only wish we had captured some of this on video. I'm glad he's a good sport.
