we couldn't help that one....I was amazed that carl and I were able to get the car up and running so damn quick....skillz i tell ya skillz!!
on ss13 and ss14 (up to hitting the rock) we were doing very well. I wasn't having to deliberately process each call from dave, I was able to just hear it and then drive it. Dave didn't get lost at all and his calls were spot on for the most part. we have a few things to work on which are primarily reliant on getting more experience. we were only driving maybe 70% of flat out (even 100% still looks slow ) - still a lot of nerves from rolling it and dropping it in the ditch. since I always wreck the right side of the car dave would get very nervous anytime I slid it so I avoided doing that as much as possible which was a good idea anyway. I think I only had 3 butt clenching moments - 1 on the practice stage and 2 on SS3.
One more, to see my other shots: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/album.php?albumid=125 (moderators have to ok before it works)
That's me in the first pic, cowboy hat is 751's crew chief, and John in the blue driving suit is our driver. Unfortunately, John was sick all weekend, so we didn't end up finishing day 1 or 2 That aside, it was still a great time.
The GTI? Bummer you didn't finish. We would've left Carl and Dave out in the woods if they hadn't finished Saturday
Yep, that was us. It was a rough morning Saturday having to clean puke out of the car :eek4: We Febreezed the **** out of that thing but the smell just wouldn't go away. I'm the only one that can fit through the roll cage in the back of the car to load the tools, set the camcorder, and clean the windows, so I was in there doin my job when Joe (crew chief) decided to clean the hatch and effectively locked me in the back I lasted about 5 min before I HAD to get out of there. I managed to squeeze myself under the roll cage and between the front seats, upside down, in order to escape. I'm SO happy to see Carl and Dave finish! I was right there when they rolled into the curling club...in fact, the fender almost took me out! Great job guys, way to keep the shiney side down and pull off the finish. Let me see now....I know I have some pics of my own around here somewhere....
Actually, he nearly ran me over when he was getting off of stage 10 :eek4:. Video to follow. He wasn't lookin too good.
LMAO Thanks for the visual! You're a much better crew than we. Whenever Dave poops himself, we leave him to his own devices. Also, now that Andrew is gone, all of Ziptie is much too fat to contort ourselves into the back.. and for some of us, even the front.
Joe and Craig getting the new decals on. The 'stanginator about to eat Mark. The fleet of Conleys. Unrelated? Jay's hotnessmobile. Pretty sure Craig got sick of me raving all weekend over how AWESOME this simple mod made the STI look... Anyone we know?
Team 751 in fine fashion. Get bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Wild Rice looking fine all covered in dirt. I gotta work on the color on this one, but I loved the lighting effect from those work lights. ISO how I hate you so More can be found here: http://gallery.me.com/rlraven#100453&view=grid&bgcolor=black&sel=298 WARNING: me.com hates IE...it works, but is uber slow. Use FF or Safari if possible.
 I'm more than willing to offer my contortion services if you guys are ever in need... I'll be at LSPR, but as a spectator this time around.
Yes that my buddy Mark from Fargo... the mask is the same one on the deer head in my avatar... fun times, that mask has been at the last 5 OFR's
john is plenty fast - he caught us on SS3 when we got stuck going about 20-40mph uphill (if you slow down in the SlowTI before an incline, you will not get back up to speed until the descent - the in-car is pitiful. oh look, triangles, get on the brake. oh look, ken and alex, they're ok. oh look, that sti is mangled, slow down a bit more to get around it. oh look, a hill. put put put put. gas pedal floored, decibels increase, speed does not. Dave will need to get out and push on Brockway at LSPR) john unfortunately dnf'd both days due to illness
yea i talk with him on a regular basis. he had shoulder surgery and then played some one handed golf
About 15minutes worth of the competition in HQ (over 3 parts)! and pics... http://www.flickr.com/photos/39108043@N06/sets/72157622245994186/ yay
We first started crewing with Four Rules at 100AW earlier this year. Craig and I both work(ed) with our codriver's brother, which is how we all met. 100AW went very well, it turns out had we entered the national competition 751 would've placed 3rd in class :eek3:. We've also done rather well at Nemadji, but unfortunately the firewall material caught on fire after the first half of NT3, and we didn't want to have any major mechanical issues before OFR, so we didn't finish that day. OFR started out really well, but as mentioned, John ended up getting very sick towards the end of both days which lead to DNFs. Save for not finishing, there were no major incidents or mechanical issues (unless puke in the car counts as an incident , but I was meaning more like no incidents with trees or rocks) and they were setting a fantastic pace for the first time on notes. I think we're done competing for the year; LSPR is unlikely due to monetary constraints. But we will be back next season. In the mean time, John has been trying to get me to learn to drive the VW...unfortunately as it is I get to choose between seeing out the windshield or reaching the pedals...clearly the car was not designed for a 5'3er to drive it  We'll have to see what can be done about that....
This was my first OFR, and basically what pushed me over the edge to selling the GTI and getting an STI between the cars, and riding in my friends STI all day on saturday... Our day 2 "shuttle" We were following our Garmin and not Rally America's directions after the Speedway stage... Found ourselves at the start line of SS2! We decided to stick around there before heading to the next spec area. Got to see them pee in the woods, and chat a little with all the drivers.. Past this guy on the road, he was not on a transit stage, he had just pulled out, They were doing at most 45, All the corners were ok, just the roof was jacked up. They checked every suspension bolt at service. He knew exactly what size wrench, and was scary fast. Back at the hotel in Park Rapids We're halfway talking about using a civic Paul got for free, and using it at an event or twoin a novice class next year...
