Hey guys, looking for some opinions. I have a 2009 wrx with a TBE and Bullwinkle tune. I am adding guages. Getting a boost guage, duh. But I have room for one more and can't decide between oil pressure, EGT or Wideband A/F ratio.

Wideband A/F gouge would be my choice but you will need to weld a bung in your DP for a sensor to be mounted. I wish I have done this before installing my DP. Otherwise, EGT would be the next option.

Yeah, I wish the Perrin came with an extra bunghole!

I'd take the other route. A wideband is really only useful when tuning. I'd recommend an oil pressure or temp gauge. I have boost, EGT, and oil pressure on my car -- and oil pressure is the gauge I use the most by far. It is useful both in giving me a piece of mind regarding oil pressure, and letting me know when the car is fully warmed up and ready for some boost.

Yep, unless you are actively tuning your car, the wideband gauge is simply a pretty lightshow. Boost, Oil Pressure and EGT are the big 3

What are people's thoughts on oil Temp? I am looking at gauges also, boost and something else. I am torn between oil temp, water temp, and oil pressure.

I think that oil pressure is probably better to have than oil temp. Its almost like 2 guages in one. You can pretty much approximate oil temp based on the pressures you are getting.

Why don't you go with a multi-gauge? You can have everything you want in one gauge. I really like the PLX gauges

Ha, checking post and the banner ad is for Glow Shift. Anyway, ofspunk7, do you have the PLX installed? What did you use? I looked at that and maybe an option, kinda pricey. Reason is a gauge pod in development for the 08+ models http://www.smyclustermaker.com/
I would like a boost gauge, and this gauge cluster looks pretty good with a good price point. The PLX DM-100 is not that much more than a couple of good gauges...

No, but on the site they just show the price for the guage only... you have to buy all the sensors separately and it gets pricey quick!

+1 on the guage cluster... I'm on the list for one of those, too bad they won't be shipped out until December. Wish someone made a oil psi / Egt combo guage, I would put that one on one side of the new cluster and Boost on the other.

Boost and Oil Pressure would be the 2 I would run if you are only running 2 gauges.

Unless your really paranoid about running lean, or have a highly modded car a wideband isn't worth putting in the car.

I do not have them installed, it is going to be a Spring 2011 project

BTW - if you go to 3GWRX there is a thread about a guy who makes very nice quality A-Pillar gauge pods. I was thinking about going that route.

This is very true. You have to buy the gauge + every sensor you want to run. It is more money, but the gauges are very nice and have a ton of options. Plus you can run multiple sensors off of one gauge and it is easier to upgrade to more sensors as funds are available.
