Awesome that's exactly what I hoped it would be, I'll be there for sure. Sounds like a buddy of mine from the east side of WI is going to make the treck over as well with his 02 WRX.

I will have to come and check it out this weekend. Don't think the summer performance tires would work out too well off road. May end up getting a set of different tires sooner than I planned!

 

A couple buddies of mine are coming up from Iowa for this, and I'm considering codriving with one of them. I'm still torn between playing with the camera or driving, both are a lot of fun.

 

FYI: We are starting one hour early!!!

8-9:30 tech and course walk
9:30 drivers meeting
9:45 start
9:45-12PM as many run groups as possible
12-1PM lunch
1PM as many run groups as possible before course gets too muddy ​

 

Never been to a rally cross event before. Anything special I should bring as a spectator?

 

walking boots (something water resistant), warm clothes, one or two FRS radios with fresh batteries, and a lunch

 

I think that if I can get my valve cover gasket replaced tomorrow and can borrow a helmet I may enter this one .

 

on a 2.0L...that's easy:biggrin:....and I have a helmet for you....just call me saturday to remind me to bring it with.

yeah I am not too sure about that. a normal 2.0L maybe but one wedged into a GC? maybe not. Also they didnt have the gasket in stock at the dealership, so I am hoping I have a new one hidden in my piles of parts somewhere.

I just took alook at the weather for the weekend. chance of freezing rain turning to rain on Sat and highs close to 40 on sunday.

 

Martin i wish you the best of luck with that gasket, i didn't like doing it on my 2.2 yours is so so much worse. without lifting the motor that is.

and i am still thinking about swinging out, just need to do some gravel runs with the car to test her out, AND talk the wife into letting me go..

The 2.2l isnt that bad I have done a number of those. I looked at the EJ20 and it looks doable with out pulling the motor but it will be tight to get the coild packs out without lifting it up a bit.

Thanks for the offer, however I have been unable to find the gasket. I think I will just run it as is. The leak is pretty minimal, I just dont like having the oil leak.

Runs? it all depends on the weather and track conditions. Fun Run? If the track holds up AND we have enough people that want to...

 

every run is a "FUN" run

Define "stupid" things? I don't think being unsafe is really allowed at events like this. Even if its during a fun run.

At least with the ground still frozen, the mud should be pretty thin. It'll more then likely just get really slippery. I'm curious if it will end up a lot like last year.

 

Well I think I am set for the event. Got some tools along, car cleaned out and tires aired up. I am pumped. I hope I dont get stuck, ground clearance isnt one of my cars strong points. ;-)

The course was a little rough in places, but it was a seriously good time! My first rallycross and my first class win, I can't wait for April 3rd!

 

Slippery, muddy, icy, rough, and very challenging for a low speed course. I seen times of frustration and excitement from all the drivers today. Good first event for the conditions we had to work with.

I'm glad everyone had fun, and thanks to everyone involved, both competitors and event workers. I'm really looking forward to working with Raceway Park and a new Event Master (Tim Anderson aka The Plumber) to come up a unique course that should have everyone smiling! Details to come within a couple weeks.

Wow, you guys didn't even last 3 hours before bothering me this time. I guess I spoiled you last season with the some of the quick posting I did...

I'm dead tired and I was barely motivated to pull the card out of my camera and dump the shots from there to my laptop and then to my personal server.I looked at most of them, I'm hoping to get them sorted through tomorrow and on Flickr overnight, expect them to show up in the photo section late Tuesday. I have some amusing stuff from this one.

 

Wife and I had fun checking out the event. Never been to a rally cross before. Looking forward to seeing and possibly entering some more events. Was really impressed with how well the whole thing was run.

I was very tempted to turn my wheel to the right and give you a mud bath!

Instead, I gave myself one trying to clean the cones!
