My understanding is that the street tire class is perfect for people that would be in classes allowing rcomps, but don't want to run them.
You can run Street Tire Index if your car is equipped with street tires and is in any class except ST, STS, STR, STX, or STU. These classes already have street tires in their ruleset, so allowing them to run in a street tire indexed class would be redundant. Wheel and Tire sizes are still regulated by the governing class (Eg, Street prepared can have unlimited width of tire and wheel, where as Stock has to keep stock sized wheel and can run any tire you can fit on it.)
Its looking a lot like I might be running street prepared in street tire. Would I be b-stock prepared or something? If I had to start all over again, and I was serious about only autox, I'd probably stay stock and run stock class. Seems like it puts everyone on a pretty level playing field. Unless you just want to go crazy on mods within your class and whoop a**!
We're in D-Class Street Prepared due to the tune bumping up boost output. I'm running street tire index as well. I'm kind of in the same boat with you on mods, but they're just too many little things I'd have to undo to go back to stock. I'm also not to worried about being competitive either. Next summer I'll hopefully be running the 914 which will put me in the "f me in the a in the parking lot" class of xp because of the semi-stripped interior and re-cammed motor. So I won't be competitive then either considering I'll have all of 100hp in that thing. This your first autox? It'll essentially be my first, though I did do the midway event last summer but that was in a buddy's 99 Nissan Altima with bald all seasons but I don't really think that counts.
Nice, it will be the friendly battle of the saabaru's lol And no, this is not my first autox. I ran a few last year, and a couple rallyx. I didn't really research the classes much before, since I was pretty much a novice. I've since added a ebcs and real tune, so I'd like to be honest at least. At the end of the day, you're right - I'm not going to be super competitive at this point. Still gaining seat time and experience!
BUMPING THIS UP! MOWOG 1 and 2 still have available spots for both days, and with the move to canterbury, it's actually $5 cheaper than a normal canterbury event! One of our best sites, at a discount! What's not to love! I've also added each event's registration link to the first post!
We're not lowering the price, it's that the rent is higher at Canterbury than it is at Valley Fair. This is typically offset by an increase in entry fee of $5... Because the event was originally setup as a Valley Fair event, and then moved to Canterbury the price was already lower, IE, Not increased to typical Canterbury pricing. if you look at the event pricing for MOWOG 7 (an event scheduled at canterbury already) you'll see the entry fee is $5 more than the $35 ($40 for walkup) that MOWOG 1 and 2 are. MAC may take a pretty big hit on this event because of the increased site costs and lower entry fee's, but we're willing to take it to make sure we start the season on a good foot and have a great event!
