    UPDATE! TIME CHANGED!!! SEE BELOW!

Yep, it's that time again! I finally got the info back from Kare-11 so we're set for another early, bitter cold Saturday morning.

When: Saturday, December 17th. at 8AM SHARP at
    Cub Foods
    5301 36th Avenue North, Ste A
    Crystal, MN 55422
The Newscast is at 9:20am. So, expect to be AT Kare11 BEFORE 9am. IIf you are running late to Cub, head straight to Kare11 instead. It's only a few minutes up the road from the Cub, so if you think you'll be late for the 8AM meetuup at Cub, then just head straight to Kare11.

Where: Meet at 8:00AM SHARP at the Cub Foods off HWY 100 and 36th.
    Cub Foods
    5301 36th Avenue North, Ste A
    Crystal, MN 55422

If you are late, you WILL be left behind.,
    Kare11 studio for the drop-off/newscast
8811 Olson Memorial Highway, Golden Valley

As with previous years, we as a group have worked together to donate hundreds of toys to the Kare-11 Toys for Tots Drive. This year will be no different. And I expect to see all of you out there with a sack of goodies for the kids. And bring your 'awake face' for the morning broadcast.

For a FAQ of what and why and how, check this link to Kare-11's Toys for Tots FAQ
    http://www.kare11.com/life/community/article/876109/365/Toys-for-Tots-Frequently-Asked-Questions

If you cannot make the date and time but wish to donate some toys, let me, Russ, or any of the moderators know, and we will work out a way to get the toys from you.

I am expecting a good turn out this year. I know we have a late start here, but that should only strengthen your resolve. The economy might be tight, but for those in need, it is even tighter. This is a very rewarding experience, and if you are like me, the good vibes will carry you till about Thanksgiving, just as it is getting to be time to do it again.

I'm down. For a meet-up location, there's a Cub on Hwy 100 and 36th St. in Crystal that's not too far from Kare11. They have a really big lot, and the west side of it is always empty (next to the gas pumps).

You know, meeting closer to the destination would probably be a good idea. I'm sure many of us remember the slick snowstorm we had to drive across town while trying not to lose the convoy of subarus as well as not crash into each other. Maybe a shorter drive would be easier.

As Jason said if you can't make it to the dropoff event and still want to donate a toy, I'm in Blaine and can collect/deliver toys if that helps. Hell, if you make it worth my time(toys not gas/time compensation)I'll drive clear across town to pick things up.

I am working on getting the time off work. 98% sure that I will get the time off.

Got me a wagon so I can hold and bring gifts as well. I am located in the SW metro and would be willing to meet near that area if you are not available to come that day.

EDIT: I also have room for two bicycles (top mount carrier) if anyone is generous enough to donate a bike.

So, are we going to meet-up at the Cub on 100? Or is it still being discussed behind closed doors?

The Cub Foods in Hopkins would likely work fine. Plus it is a short hop to the Kare11 studio. I'll update the first post.

Also, we need a show of hands of who all is going. I want a head count for planning purposes.

One car is probably best unless it's needed for hauling. The KARE parking lot is pretty small and fills quickly. In fact if possible carpooling isn't a bad idea rather than 20 cars dropping off 25 toys.

And if it's not clear yet, Katie and I will be making the annual trip again.

I wasn't sure if this was a T4T drive or a Subaru drive to bring our donations to KARE 11... We will be in the LGT with a few boxes of toys.:)

Best bet would be to take all those gift cards and get physical toys. I don't see anything prohibiting it, but at the same time, I don't want you to get turned down on the offer and then have to figure out what to do with those gift cards after the fact

Sounds like I have a lot of shopping to do... over $100's in gift cards already. My work use to do a T4T drive but this year did something different.... leaving all my departments generosity for me to drop off :)

    Thank you to my employer

Umm, I was talking about the Cub in Crystal, on Hwy 100 and 36th St. North. But if you want to meet up there instead, that's cool. The Cub in Crystal would definitely be easier to get in and out of, though, since you can see it easily from Hwy. 100, and there isn't much traffic on 36th. Either location works for me!

We'll be there. Probably bring the dogs again since it's such a great opportunity for socializing them with strangers and generally strange people... and getting them to nut up and get used to the cold... pussies...

Looks like it's OK to donate them but that leaves someone else to do the shopping, Assuming you can find the time, I'd go ahead and do the shopping ahead of time....maybe buy some bigger stuff?

    From KARE11 website
What kinds of toys are needed/accepted?
Toys are distributed to kids from 0 - 16. Typically, there is a shortage of toys for infants and teenagers.
Gift cards are accepted, but are not distributed as gifts. The Marines take donated gift cards and purchase gifts for the program.
Typically, the average gifts are in the $30 range. However, toys in all price ranges are accepted

Speaking of which, we talk about this every year, but what's a good gift for teenagers? An ipod shuffle? Subscription to playboy?

All I wanted when I was a teen was beef jerky and gas money.

I have added a notice to the site and I will add it to our google calendar in a bit.

I think I will be able to make it, but it will more than likely be a last minute deal. If the multi BILLION dollar company I work for can figure out how to get a couple of hundred bolts, I might have to work.

Time is running out fast! If you haven't done so, I would plan your shopping trip for the kids this week :) We spent all day Sunday getting toys together. If you are on the fence about doing this, I will tell you, It is probably the most satisfying thing you can do during the holiday season.
