2012 MnSubaru LaXCruise!!

Well here we go again! As usual, i know that it's only January and still cold outside, but it's time to start thinking warm thoughts!! The 2012 LaXCruise will be celebrating it's 6th year this year and the date has been set!

Saturday-June 9th, 2012

What is it and what is to be expected!?....

Cliff notes: The LaXCruise is a lengthy Subaru enthusiast driven cruise to LaCrosse, Wisconsins Copeland Park where we have a HUGE shelter rented to park the cars under to protect us from the summer heat! It is a family oriented cruise that i thought up many years ago that allows us to enjoy a long drive accompanied by a BBQ, raffle with Subaru inspired prizes, games/shenanigans, and also camping for those of us that like to make a night of it and carry on the fun into Sunday! Plan on a beautiful drive to WI, accompanied by great friends, a chance to admire others Subies, awesome prizes donated by sponsors that promote Subaru love in MN, food and games!

***In order to really make it work, we need people to get signed up early and clear their calendars!***

COST!?-$15/adult and $5/child will be the amount to get lunch and raffle tickets to partake in the raffle! Pre-paying is a requirement and is non-refundable! I can't afford to take on the costs out of my own bank account! The raffle, as many of you already know, is comprised of some pretty great stuff! The money collected will help cover the shelter rental, food and some of the prizes!

Tentative itenerary posted below: (subject to change ever so slightly depending on interest).
Saturday-June 9th
8am-Arrive at Inver Grove Heights Walmart in the North parking lot. Smooze and grab your cruise route info and raffle tickets and prepare yourself for a day of Subaru bliss!
9am-We leave promptly at 9am to ensure that we arrive just before lunch time. This allows myself and other volunteers to get food ready(if need be/no caterer)and get stuff set up and also get the mass amounts of Subarus parked!
11:30am-Arrive at Copeland Pavillion in LaCrosse, park cars, set up, and get ready to eat!!
12pm-Lunch time! Omnom(depending on the turnout and pre-registration #'s, this will be a hot lunch, either catered by a local LaCrosse catering service, or by the club and volunteers)
1-1:30pm-Games and Subie fellowship...check out the cars!!
2pm-Around 2ish, we will begin the raffle and start giving away subie goodies and or subie-related goodies thanks to our local sponsors! You don't want to miss it!!

We have the shelter until 7pm, so we can hang out and enjoy the summer day and the mass amount of Subarus into the early evening. After the raffle, you are pretty much able to do whatever you'd like, whether it be head back to the cities, drive up to Grandads Bluff to enjoy the sunset, or just hang and enjoy eachothers company!

We will be heading to Goose Island Campgrounds in the early evening to get tents set up and have dinner for those that are feeling up to it! We usually come up with some fun night time activities for those that stick around Saturday night, and caravan back together or in small groups on Sunday morning before or after Perkins breakfast.

Also, if you and your significant other are driving more than one car to the event, please sign up individually so that we have a good idea of the # of cars! I know that alot of couples on here have more than one subaru, sometimes they ride together, sometimes they bring multiple subies(we encourage this!! ). I'm in. Probably for two cars. The Mrs. was bummed she didn't take her Forester last year.

 

^Do it!! For those of you that aren't interested in camping...the Rochester guys get hotel rooms and go bar hopping through LaCrosses' vast amount of bars each year, i'm sure that they'd be more than happy to increase their group size.

We've got a good start to the list! I'm really hoping that we top our best year and make it even bigger this year. Some more of you new members need to sign up...and moar OGeeez! 63 cars and 108 people was the best year running...so i am presenting the challenge! Can we go BIGGER!?

 

Rich and Karen drove from Orr,MN approx 5hrs to drive down to LaCrosse with us. You talk about Subie dedication! Hopefully you can make it!!

And btw, the shelter can accomidate over 100 cars.

 

Yessir! That is the location and as June draws closer i will be posting all critical info for everyone. And you are welcome my friend!

Payment info will be up within the next couple of weeks so we can lock in the caterer for the event. The caterer makes life easier for all of us! No wait for the food when we arrive, and a TON less headache for me running all over the cities to buy everything needed. So caterer>grilling ourselves! Thanks.

Nope, if you fill up before you get to Wal-Mart Saturday morning, there are stations in LaCrosse with e85.

 

Looking good already!! By my calculations, we're already at 23 cars and 39 people! That's a great start and i'm hoping that the numbers just keep getting bigger!

The biggest year to date was 63 cars and 108 people and it was awesome! Lets eclipse those numbers this year, new guys...OG's...everybody...get signed up!! 100 car Subaru train rolling down hwy52...woot-woot!
