We typically meet at Bakers Square north for breakfast. Then make our way to the Super America in Zumbrota and wait for the city crew

Well, it's official...Troy and the girls from NOS Energy Drinks will be in the NOS truck and are our "Official Pace Car(truck)" for the cruise this year! This year is looking bigger than ever! Can't wait for the 9th!

Remember...the cutoff for payments is Sunday June 3rd!

I believe we, in past years, have hit it up around 730-8 am so we can relax and nom some breakfast and then make our way towards zumbrota a little before 9. Then its usually about a 20-30 min wait for the Main caravan...

Keep an eye on the Rochester thread and we will get all the details out in there.

Music gonna be playing when we get down there?

The MAN event would of been better if there was some music playing.

Just trying to make it something I/other new peps can remember and want to come to in the future.:)

    Huh... well... that's uh... different.

So long as Jason can swing a bat from the Z if people get out of line then I suppose it doesn't matter who the pace car is. ;)

Bah, won't be able to go now this year. My nephews graduation party got moved to the 9th and I won't be able to make it to Green Bay from La Crosse in time. Everyone have a great time, and maybe this will force me to get off my lazy butt and hit up Calhoun some Tuesday.

Obviously the payment for two people is non-refundable and doesn't bother me at all. But maybe it could cover the cost of a couple other people? I wouldn't mind sharing the love for someone else.

Depends on what you qualify as "music."

And as for the NOS truck thing. Honestly, my opinion (take it with a grain of salt I guess, as I'm no longer a Subaru owner), but if I had to pick a car for the pace car, I'd at least pick a Subaru. Think of the pace car as your group ambassador. Kindof confusing if the ambassador for a Subaru specific car club is driving a truck on 24" chrome "rimz."

And yeah, I have a boat oar in the Z. It is extendable. And the end is bright orange. If I see any of you getting out of line, my past 5 years of pace car instincts will kick in, and I will reach out and beat a dent in your paint. If you don't want paint damage, keep your driver's side window down so I can plant the boat oar firmly against your face. Or, alternatively, don't drive like a ****ing jackass.

I'd prefer a Subaru to lead the pack myself.

maybe we can find a BRZ to lead the pack.

Well unless a bunch of people start chiming in that they don't like the fact that a truck is leading the way, then i'm probably just going to leave it as is because it doesn't really matter to me. Part of what influenced NOS to join us for the weekend was the fact that they could use the video of them in the convoy for their facebook page.

If multiple people oppose this tho, i'll just lead the pack down.

Read Jason's post again. I'd draw a parallel and say you might as well have a bunch of GTI's and and M's roll along too, but something tells me you wouldn't seeing anything strange with that either.

It feels weird and I wouldn't choose them to lead. In back sure or maybe even somewhere in the convey, but leading feels weird.

That said... meh. Just so long as they don't cause problems when we get to the end of 60... ;)

It would be SUPADOPE if you could get Justin to do it in the BRZ. Because BRZ.

Anyone of us can lead, we all know how to get there.

I'll just be following the car in front of me, which will be in the middle of the pack somewhere.

Me know cares who lead, just don't take the train the wrong way with you

It's not just any one leading. NOS has been with us as a sponsor in many events including LAX in prior years. They want to show and add a little more to it this year. To have a sponsor leading the cruise IMO isn't a big deal.

That parallel doesn't work though. Those GTI's and M's would just be along for the cruise and not helping us in anyway other then making the group larger.

The parallel works. It's non-subaru's in a subaru club cruise. Again, I don't care all that much, but understand the argument.

If you can't see past the part where it's a sponsor to the cruise who gives us tons of free stuff to help us out versus some random joe then there isn't anything else to argue.

I'm not a retard, I get your point. The goal was to help you understand the objection.

To speak directly to your point:

There's nothing wrong with sponsors wanting to be involved with private club events (not just MNSubaru). There is also nothing wrong with them wanting to have some visibility. That's how it's supposed to work. However, there is a point where it's no longer the club's event because the sponsor effectively bought it. That's not necessarily a bad thing so long as the club understands that's what they're doing.

The core of the LaX event is the cruise. Letting a sponsor lead the cruise in a vehicle that would otherwise have no business being there so the sponsor can put it on facebook and use it as part of a marketing campaign is the best thing I could think to offer if I wanted them to totally take over the perceived ownership of the event. Especially when that event has been lead by a member in a Subaru every single year previously.

I'm not so sure I want this to become the "NOS Cruise". Yes, we get "free" energy drinks out of the deal but I don't think it keeps in line with the spirit of the event.

It's not exactly "tons of free stuff" we're talking about getting in return here. It's worth thinking over before committing. It's not the end of the world if they lead. Pay attention to the implications and make sure that's what you really want to do.

I'm with Surly, a cruise is almost entirely symbolic. The head of the cruise... well... alright fine, I'll lead the cruise in my 4runner.

I think anyone passing by or seeing the cruise from and outsider's standpoint will completely forget about the NOS vehicle by the time the last Suby rolls by!

I won't be going this year, my offer still stands for my two person payment to help cover two people that haven't paid. But in my opinion if NOS wants to sponsor and drive their tricked out truck that is great. And long term for MNSubaru its great to have more sponsors. But stick them in the back, they can be the support vehicle. There is a bit of symbolism and pride in having a Subaru leading the charge in a Subaru based car club's annual cruise. Business up front, party in the back. :)

    This^

...will make it looks like rimpeen, naws, and some ricer with too many stickers sponsored the cruise. But I'm with you on having the nos truck tail and move alongside the pack when they need to get shots. BRZ or the most vintage subaru in the group as lead gets my vote.

Josh, make Subaru and the Subaru owners proud by leading the pack! .... As others have mentioned, the lead car defines symbolism...so, seeing a NOS chevy car lead the pack is totally disrespecting Subaru.
....If the NOS crew wants to film the cruise, let them drive back and forth along the pack since its the best way to see all the cars in the pack.

I say let the Nos truck bring up the rear and hand off cans of Nos to people who start to get tired and fall behind.

Brz or Josh ftl (for the lead)

To anyone interested in making videos, I found this spot great for filming as the subies left walmart...could have been better if I was closer.

And another driveby along the pack...

Is there anyone who has a high content of nos sponsorship on their vehicle currently?
perhaps they could lead, followed by the NOS truck, then the rest of the pack.

There's room on my car still if NOS wants to sponsor me before next weekend, I'd be happy to lead :)
