Tempted to powder coat the headers and maybe the front and over pipe. Thoughts?

Would help protect them even more from the elements but if its a decent brand they normally use pretty good stainless so would not do much for you.

Borla and Invidea, if there is really not that much to be gained besides appearance, I'll save a few hundred bucks.

Yes all powder coat really is good for is durability and apearance does not do much for heat reduction and stuff like that imo

What about GrimmSpeeds ceramic coating? Worth it? Experience?

A huge oversight in the coating discussion thus far in this thread is that coatings help keep those parts warm, which is important for flow, they are not just for shielding. I wonder if ceramic coating is that much better than wraps that it justifies the cost. That being said, if BRZ headers are below the engine, I would not wrap them. Just ask Ben how a car can become a Molotov cocktail.

Nah I'm good. Headers would be under the engine like normal. I got no issue with leaving as is. Just trying to make sure everything will last.

The "thermal d" coating that GrimmSpeed offers makes a huge difference!

I made a custom intake box out of aluminum some years back. By adding the thermal coating it decreased the heat intake at the airbox between 35 to 40 degrees. It was aluminum, which transfers heat heavily. So it may not be as drastic of a change with steel. Still, a great addition if you have the funds IMO!

Ballpark estimates of $240. Thinking I probably will ceramic coat them. I'll dig a little bit on Google tonight. Anyone else have any experience with coating the headers/front/up pipe

Well as of yesterday everything was put in! I want to thank all the guys at NF! Great work! Thanks for all the input and help here too. Now at 3000rpm I sound like a normal Subie at idle! Runs a bit rich but runs good.

Now, I just finished a weekend at BIR and am already pondering the next upgrade. I'm thinking suspension and sway bars. Unfortunately I know jack **** about them. Any input you guys and gals can give me? I dont want to slam the car but maybe a 1/2" or 1" drop.

I like my Isc coilovers. Fully adjustable rides like stock just with a higher spring rate(also adjustable) also didn't break the bank got them for under 1k new.

That link if it works, is for a full kit for 750 or so. I'll keep that in mind though.

I don't have sway bars and have not driven it on a track yet but the fair amount of curvy road driving I hhave done I can say I do not feel the need for sways with the coilovers

The spring rate on those hotchkis springs seems really unbalanced. The car has about 50/50 weight distribution. RCE's springs are at 250lb/in and 280lb/in (all around) depending on which spring you get. Both seem a lot more reasonable based on the cars weight and distribution. The hotchkis setup likely is rated as such to induce more oversteer and hit the dariftoos more better.

For sway bars, pretty much everything is good but size front and rear will give vastly different characteristics. Whitelines historically tend to rust quickly but that shouldnt affect peformance.

My personal opinion is you can get better stuff (than hotchkis) for about the same price that you can tailor to how you want your car to drive.

P.S. As for coilovers, you get what you pay for. Most generic coilovers start leaking and need to be rebuilt more often. If you have stiff enough springs and your damping rate is set high enough, the coilovers will dial out a lot of the body roll.

Leave the suspension alone till you can drive the car at it's limits.

Spend the money on track fees! :D

Digging up an old post. Over the winter, probably after Christmas, I will be trying to A) find someone (somewhere) that can order the Stage 2 Innovative Supercharger kit and B) find a shop to install it. Any thoughts recommendations? I've heard MAP is good for parts..

My only piece of advice is to save up until you can pay for the kit in full. Smarter financial sense, and also if it blows up, you won't already be strapped for cash.
