http://www.carscoops.com/2013/11/2015-subaru-wrx-info-leaked-features.html So, moving to a 2.0L with boost in power and a six speed or cvt.... Interesting... Is this 2.0L based off the FR-S/BRZ? I heard that can take a lot of abuse
i was worried i was going to regret getting my '12 sti so close to the release of the new body style. not anymore
yup I agree! Glad I bought my 2013 when I did, this thing looks ugly and they got rid of the hatch.......thought the hatch made great sales here in the US?!
I saw these a few days ago and was wondering when someone on this forum would mention it. I had just figured everyone was let down by it. Like gc8 said every time they change the body style it seems to be disliked for the most part. I was receiving texts right away asking how I liked the new Camry. I guess at least this will more than likely increase the resale value of my 09 hatch. Here is a link where they took the camo off the test car to see what it might look like. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/subaru/2015-subaru-wrx-ar152930.html
only a few more days away till we get to see what the rest of the car looks like! I am excited for the 6 speed, nicer sound system, and the few other things that were listed. I also really want to see how the new white paint color looks!
A Car and Driver article mentioned it will be able to pull 1.1Gs stock. With that kind of handling, the looks don't matter so much. Just can't wait to see the STi specs.
http://theautopanel.blogspot.com/2013/11/2015-wrxsti-unofficially-revealed.html another article on the subject
I'm at the point now where I use Subaru's concept images as an inversely proportional gauge for how pissed I'm going to be at the final product. If I absolutely love the concept, odds are, Subaru is going to botch the design and cheap out on a bunch of simple design points and it's going to ruin the whole design. The 2012 Impreza concept I thought was beautiful. In practice however, the car is hideous and comes off looking cheap. Here again, with the WRX concept, it was beautiful. Then they divided up all the windows with little triangles and ****, like they've been doing now since the Legacy changed body styles, and they raised the hips and made them taller and flatter, and the roofline rose (which I figured they would do anyway). The wheels got smaller, and more pigeon toed. Everything about the concept said "we're finally making the WRX separate from the Impreza line, and it will now be it's own sports sedan." And instead it is "we made the legacy about a foot shorter and ruined all the lines from the concept. Also, those cool headlights are gone." At least the BRZ concept outline that Subaru submitted looked bland and boring. It turned out to be a decent little car. I kinda like the looks of it, about as much as I kinda didn't care about the concept.
Less rotating mass=Less TQ over-all. Easier to get HP over TQ. I bet they are changing the engine size for cost wise vs performance wise. That hood looks horrid. The front does not flow to the rear, nor does the rear flow towards the front. It's like a hodgepodge of frankenstein.
The STi in Japan has always been 2.0L, so cost has nothing to do with it. I bet the new motors cost MORE then the old EJ25, with the direct injection system ect. I'd take a proper setup 2.0L that revs to 8k all day long over a 2.5L that revs to 7 and grenades pistons
I guess it's official that the leaked photos of the 2015 WRX are the real deal. All I see is a lowered Crosstrek with a hood scoop. http://www.subaru.com/auto-show/la-2013.html
Could it look any more bland? It's like someone said let's take a Mazda3 and a Corrolla, throw them in a blender, add some ketchup to tone down any flavor, and call it a day. Disappointing.
Guess I'm weird. I like it. Put some bigger wheels, bigger fender flares, the STi wing and lower it a little and I think it would look pretty darn sexy.
I like it more than the rest of Subaru's current line-up. I'll have to wait and see what the final production version of the next Legacy looks like (what I have seen so far looks promising) before I make a decision on what my next Subaru will be (if any). Also looks like I will be forced back into driving a stick as I have no desire for a CVT despite Motor Trend's glowing review of the CVT in the Forester in their recent SUVOTY article.
I will admit I was really digging the concept. This on, eh not so muc but its an interesting change of looks for sure and its always cool seeing the new things they come up with.
It looks like a corolla S with a body kit. Subaru is capable of producing excellent concept vehicles, then making a half-hearted fap towards producing something faithful to the concept design. Unfortunately, pedestrian safety regulations end up crippling any sort of valiant effort most design studios can create, because of constantly expanding laws and regulations that require higher hoods, greater side impact resistance and safety, etc. All these laws serve to raise hoods, raise beltlines, and generally create one allowable (and boring) mold for cars to fit into. While it's entirely disappointing, it may not be entirely Subaru that is at fault for the real deal not measuring up to the concept.
Also have to keep in mind that as cars move fwd we have a class of people becoming drivers that care more about technology and interior comfort and style then performance.
Not to get off topic, but that Jaguar reminds me of Pontiac's GTO remake. Domestic auto makers are just like white trash - everyone is ****ing each other. On the topic of the WRX, GC8 hit it on the head. These negative opinions spark every time something new is launched by Subaru. But it also brings me back to something someone said a long time ago on this very forum: we're Subaru enthusiasts; we're conditioned to like the quirky Embrace the concept, weirdos. Embrace it. additionally, I like the current Subaru line up, too! I think the WRX will grow on many once it's released.
Couldn't agree more with one of the comments below on the article : "Looks like a Honda City dressed as a hooker."
it honestly looks better than the last gen of WRX sedans IMO. however the BRZ wagon concept ("crossport") concept has me extremely interested http://wot.motortrend.com/subaru_cross_sport_design_concept_is_a_brz_shooting_brake_2013_tokyo.html
"**** the idea of a convertible, let's make a fastback" (I think that's what that style would be called)...reminds me of an z3m coupe but, this can't be called a coupe...can't really be a wagon either. It's some hellish hybrid thing.
