Gets a facelift, solid new global platform, and an XT model with the Ascent's FA2.4 DIT. No manual gearbox though. Which means standard Eyesight.

I didn't follow the reveal earlier today, but rendering an opinion based on looks alone, here. It looks like any generic sedan to me. I guess I'll have to check it out a bit more.

CVT...no sale. And only 10 more HP than my Legacy GT FIFTEEN model years older.

Subaru wants to be a mainstream auto maker and has no interest in the fan boi enthusiasts.

Assuming that option is only available as the Touring package.

I think it's a decent looking car, but the mandatory driving nannies plus a CVT that probably isn't friendly to more power means it's not for me.

Thought a year ago the prez of Subaru said that all their cars would be turbo by 2020 or 2022?

The safety nannies means very low insurance bracket meaning the turbo would have more than looks in common with the Corolla. I don't mind the looks either. I guess to me it looks like a generic family sedan because it is a generic family sedan. I don't expect it to look like a 4 door exotic car with an engine to match. I will be disappointed if the XT has no hood scoop though.

With Toyota giving Camry a TRD variant and 300-plus HP, Subaru needs a Legacy STI with the same. Subaru owners that outgrow a WRX or STI (and give up vaping and flat brims) have no place to go in the product line. Middle agers (and some of us old farts) still like to have a little style and power in a practical AWD sedan and wagon. This is a demographic that has the means to spend a little more on something they want. Subaru is ignoring a potential customer base when they have a product that just needs a few tweaks and upgrades to make it something a little more special. The whole world does not want an SUV. Detroit's big three will one day regret they let the sedan die in their line ups.

Yeah, but they made an "effort". It wouldn't have surprised me one bit if they had left it at the 182hp base engine and patted themselves on the back for the standard safety tech and chassis platform upgrade. Haven't driven one yet but hear great things about the handling of this new global platform. They probably should have at least offered a manual transmission variant without the nannies and called it a GT.

Long live the old farts! They need cars too. I’ll sign the petition Mark, lmk

GT trim is needed for sure. STi version ftw

Revive the Spec B! Throw suspension, STi block and tranny, and Si drive in it and call it a day!

I don't see that happening especially with the "new" engine in the 2020. however, I would settle for it if they gave it STI suspension some sort of SI drive and a louder exhaust, plus whatever aero bit they would dress it up with.
