I ran across this on another forum, and was curious if any of you guys had any experience with it, or what your take on it was. Its a little spendy, but I was considering going in with a few friends to get the amount that we needed for a decent price. 3m Di-NOC Carbon Fiber I also found this stuff too NeffyWrap It seems to be the same concept, but it doesnt have the adhesive on the back already, you'd have to spray it on. Its also significantly less expensive than the 3m, and only guarantees it for indoor use, where the 3m is guaranteed for 4 years usage outdoors, and 12 indoors. EDIT: Apparently they offer it in woodgrain too. Looks pretty nifty: http://www.idsfinishes.com/auto.html
that 3m stuff looks about as good as a viny sticker can be (it looks like the kind of stuff you would put around un auto console, then put a mugen badge right next to it, lol) that neffywrap stuff loofs more real, as a matter of fact i own the cellphone case they have in their gallery, looks pretty convincing (like un-clearcoated cf), but it is quite thin and i wouldnt put it on anything thats outside or gets lots of abrasion guess it depends on what u want to look like fake cf and its particular application... i can post a close up of my cell case if u want
Thats what I was looking for. There are guys on NASIOC and IWSTI that say they really like it, and in some of the pictures posted it looked okay. I was thinking about doing some interior bits. I saw a picture of a grille that was done and it didnt look all that great.
the neffywrap definitely looks better, but damn that stuff is not cheap, 3 yards 100 bucks..ouch edit: checked the price of the 3m stuff..my checkbook hurts just looking at that..
taras posted this on mnsc, thats probably where you saw it... and now everyone will buy this crap and wrap all sorts of things.
no, i saw it on NASIOC and IWSTI, as i stated in my original post. I was just curious as to who has used it, i didnt say I was going to go out and buy a crap ton of it and do my whole car (someone actually did that on an 08 sti)
The 3M stuff looks fantastic, actually. As long as you do it right, and don't go overboard. You run into problems when people see it and say "oh hey this looks great" and then start putting it on EVERYTHING.
I wasnt going to do much with it, thats why I was going to buy a yard or so and divide the cost up between my buddies and I.
Carbon fiber isn't about looks. Its about light weight and strength. That being said, I still love the look of carbon fiber.
