what was the highway that we took home last year that paralleled 35?

 

^hwy 23? that goes from the west end of duluth and then hits I-35 about 10 miles north of Hinckley...that's my random guess

Well guys, I hate to do this because this is one of the best events the club does, but... I have to back out. Me not working for the past month, and doctor bills adding up from to many hospital visits has put us in the (wehavenomoneyforfuncatagorey)

so do we have a definite meeting place up there yet? i know for sure it would be rather difficult to all meet at chux's. we need somewhere with ample parking for our hord of cars.

we could definitely meet here, like we did the first year. lots of room on 1st ave e. and nobody's going to care if we fill it up for a half hour or so....

or we could go straight to the fast food joints up the hill. lots of parking between BK, McDs and Subway, all right next to each other.

 

i think we should still meet up at chux's and make a definitely game plan for the rest of the day from there.

I know I haven't posted in a while in this thread, but I'm breaking my hiatus to say, "I'm pumped, too."

 

i also am pumped, my car is (as far as i know) ready to go, all this.

 

just changed my oil, so i am good to go! (also bringing a few extra qts with...)

It would work out well either way imo, if we meet at chuxs or at the food places. The advantage of meeting at chuxs place is that you get a decent view of the lake and we could snap a few pics there like on year one.

another option is to meet up at sams club... we made a stop there last time, and everyone seemed ok with it. it takes a decent amount of time for people to buy stuff so it means we wouldnt have to wait for people.

2way radios are something that everyone should be bringing up on the trip. usually a few of us have some extras for people that dont have them. i have 2 or 3 extras myself.

 

I have the CB radio now too.

OFFICIAL UPDATES

Saturday
9:00am - Meet at Firestone.. Leave Firestone at 9:30 promptly.
10:15am - Arrive at Target in Forrest Lake to pick up people that live on the north side of the cities.
10:45am - Leave Target in Forrest lake.
1:00pm - Arrive at Chux's house in Duluth
1:30pm - Eat Lunch quickly and pick up liquor and Sams Club
2:00-5:00pm - Spirited driving and pictures on Sklying and Park Point. Parade our cars through downtown.
5:00pmish - Check-in to Barkers Island Inn Resort
7:00pm - Eat dinner at Grizzly's
9:30pm - Arrive back to Resort and party(bring your swimming trunks and/or bannana hammocks)


At Chux's house we will then figure out where we want to get some quick lunch and plan the order of the rest of the afternoon(skyline, park point, etc).

I want to try and do even more driving this year so i think on the way up to duluth we should take highway 23 then shoot over through that Jay Cooke park. If we take this route we will end up being in duluth a little bit later than outlined above.
