I try not to be a handraiser but this time I have to. Lately my mind has not been on MNSubaru and has been home shopping, home improvement training, and finalizing a home purchase for over a month now. I'll also be taking a midterm exam that week so it'll be very difficult for me to attend the Duluth trip and juggle my life at the same time. :(

Beware, they only have 91. Or at least that was teh case last year. Or was it the year before? I can't remember. All I know is I ended up dumping 5 bottles of 'octane booster' because they had crappy 91 at the only station we could find open.

    it's all 91 in town.

and I'll try to have a better idea of where the BPs are, so we can make a planned stop sometime.

I think that station up by skyline drive (where we scared teh neon away) is a shell. otherwise there was that bp down in sup.

why dont we just stop at the last one before town, then you should have enough gas till we are out of town the following morning.

There is race gas here, and I know where it is now. It's not too far from sam's club where you guys went for booze last year.

she's not a car person. That's why we broke up. She said I'm too materialistic and like my car too much. I guess the final straw was when i gave that priority over her .

But, on the other hand she is a drunk ass and likes to get wasted and make out with random people, so she possibly would go.

So. any more detailed info on the time-frame for this? there's a car show and 1/8 mile time trails going on in town during the day that day. info here. the car show goes from 10am-6pm, and I would really like to enter my car in the show. maybe meet there?

Saturday afternoon? I'm thinking Park Point, then running much of Skyline Dr. might be fun. not the greatest driving roads, but awesome scenery. and more than a few sweet twisties :run:. and then you guys have pretty easy access to the freeway/hotel.

Saturday evening? Grizzly's again? I thought that worked very well....but anyone have other preferences/ideas? I'm willing to make phone calls/reservations again.

Sunday? interest in running up to the pit in 2 harbors? rather do something else? rather sleep off the hangover and then drive home?

I was thinking about putting together a little map/directions/itinerary this year. so we don't have to worry so much about getting lost/waiting for people stuck at traffic lights.

Highway 210 Through jay cooke is THE ****! If we can't fit it into our cruising, you guys should hit it up on the way into or out of town. On a side note, I'm in a mad scramble to get the Legacy 2.2GT-T on the road in time...it's gonna be a close one.

is this the road that runs along side 35? this sounds like a sweet road to hit on the way up there. can you show it to me on a google map?

i think it would be really fun to hit up the drags on sunday...sounds like any of us could show our cars and/or compete in the drags if we wanted to. saturday i think will be the usual get up to duluth around noon, meet at chux's house, eat some fast food, hit up skyline, hit up park point, check in to hotel, go to grizzlies, back to hotel to parte. it would be great if you could write up a little map for us since you are a local duluth guru:)

    Justin...FYI....
UPDATE 9/27/07 The entire stretch of Highway 210 through the park is now open to all traffic. The construction crew will work on finishing up the detail work such as leveling shoulders and placing signs. Due to this, there may be occasional delays. The entire project should be completed by the end of next week. We appreciate our visitors patience during this construction project.

and yes, the road starts about 20 miles south of Duluth, goes through Jay Cooke, then drops you into Gary New Duluth. It's a good road, but I would hesitate to have 30+ subarus go through there unless everyone can maintain self control and the speed limit. too much traffic on the weekends due to the fall color change.

I used to live up there and now the back roads north of Duluth very well. If you have any questions PM me.

that car event could be intersting. but i for one wouldnt be in to show my car, and well they requier track experience. granted i bet we could all bluff our way in but we will still need some helmets. its just an 1/8th mile track? i would rather party in the pit, or hit up th willow river trails.

maybe in place of the park point photo shoot, we should go to the pit, and snap some shots of the group by superior (not on the beach), leaving all sunday open to show off, the newly dirtied, subarus. just a thought.

yea, but you have to be there before 9:45am to enter the show. and entering the time trials is $50....for 1/8 mile.

    ^$50!!! forget that.

I also highly doubt many people will be in the mood to enter their cars at 9:45 am on sunday.

You exit 35 north on 210 and head towards carlton. Once in carlton you drop into Jay Cooke state park. You'll end up at Fond Du Lac, then take 23 thru Gary New Duluth to Duluth. Here's a map of some of the route. May be an extra 1/2 hour to the trip
