If he's much skinnier than the actual Stig and we can slide through the crack in the unopened door. "Stig", not "Stick" ya wing nut! How are those gas fumes working out for ya? Amy
who's bender? I decided I want to put a cage in the sti - more likely a rollbar set-up since it's still a dd and I don't want to wear a helmet driving to work lol
Just wait and see, I have evidence... :rockwoot: What fumes, the old tank is bone dry! The new one just arrived today!!
I see that somewhere else that Carl is looking to trade his STi brakes for WRX brakes so he can fit 15" rims. You looking to put rally rims/tires on your car there Sir? Most folks would say your going the wrong way with mods. Not us though. Welcome to the disease brother! Amy
**** it. My welder won't do crap on the tube for the cage. I can weld 3/16" stock all day long and get great beads and penetration, but on the 13 ga. tube I can't find any kind of setting that combines enough heat to penetrate with slow enough wire feed to control the bead. I pulled out the tubes I had in place, tacked the foot plates to cover the holes in the floorboards and I'm just going to bolt back in my harness bar, seat and dash and run the damn thing and worry about the cage when I can get someone who knows what they're doing (and has a better welder) to help, probably after the RX season and before the IIRA season. I did weld in the mounting pieces for my battery relocation. Lit the undercoating on fire in the process, which would be no big deal, except that the gas tank is under there so you can't spray water up on the smoldering undercoating. Ended up sticking a hose up to one of the old rear seat belt mounting bolt holes and get it out that way. Whee.
All I can find is: 6.3.N - All batteries (on board power supplies) shall be attached to ensure that the battery and/or power supply will remain in place. If a lead-acid (wet cell) type battery is located in the drivers/co-drivers compartment it must be equipped with leak-proof caps and enclosed in a non-conductive, marine-type box. Dry cell batteries, commonly known as Recombinant Gas (RG) or Glass Mat Technology (GMT) batteries, are not required to be in a marine-type box. The hot terminal must be insulated on all vehicles. All batteries shall be securely attached to the primary structure of the vehicle. Mine will be mounted in the trunk, at the very front, centered between the wheel wells on a frame made of 1/8" stock, welded to the trunk floor. The battery (Optima Bluetop) will be in a marine-type box with 3/8" threaded rod coming up from the metal frame underneath the battery box and bolted down with another piece of 1/8" stock on the top. The lid will be held on by a ratchet strap, but that won't be what's holding the battery in place. My "trunk" is open to the cabin, as there's no rear seat, and Nissan didn't build a wall there. There will also be a 250A circuit breaker at the battery, and probably an in-line power kill switch somewhere I can reach it while strapped in. I have everything, and electrical is easy stuff for me, so that shouldn't be a problem to get done before the rallycross. I welded the frame in today since I'm going to work on selling my welder so I can buy a new one. I think the next one will be a Miller/Hobart, maybe even a 220v unit. A Hobart Handler 187 would be just about perfect, I think, but a Handler 140 looks more likely.
What's wrong? Afraid that you won't carry on the tradition of beating the car's owner is his own car??? Then again, you probably have close to same amount of RallyCross time in that car as Brent does....did he pay you off? Maybe he is the one who is afraid?
maybe next time, i just cant get away for this one. carpooling would be nice, especially at 4 bucks (or more) a gallon and 17mpgs in my SS.
Let's see, I have driven that car for two RX runs total (before Erik broke it), and one 15min IIRA qualifying session (before Brent broke it). Now, the RX runs were at CF1, so it was probably 5 minutes of seat time, which might actually be more than Brent has had. CF2 is so tight, I really don't know how he's going to get the car to rotate with the welded diff. Plus, I really, really just like driving the Sentra.
best way to get a stubborn fwd car to rotate in rallyx is to give it massive amounts of rear toe out and rear tires that are almost bald. of course that makes for some very interesting straightline driving.
I believe Stig's older brother has to wear his full faced helmet, with the visor closed, for the entire day, if not his driving suit too. I seem to recall his African Cousin doing the same in the African heat. Though I would very much enjoy if he would wear the same outfit as his African Cousin. Amy PKSublime, you gotta come to this. You'll have a ton of fun.
Logistically, yes. But we're not close at this point, so we're more interested in getting more people to show up than concerned about having too many.
Sorry Amy, The Stig's family history is a torrid affair. DNA testing is the only way to confirm family ties. Jay
I really, really really really really really wanted to but I literally have NO MONIES. I didn't think it would cost that much! $15 is fine but over $100?! :,( Edit: Drapes works for Land O' Lakes, maybe they would sponsor me??
$100? Non-Members* - $55.00 ($15.00 SCCA Weekend Membership + $40.00 Entry Fee). I suppose if you live far away you would have to include a tank of gas and then the total would be about $100 though. Amy
It's an inside joke. There are a few people here who I know would get it, but most of them probably aren't reading this thread, rendering the joke pointless. But I still had to.
i too have tricks up my sleeve. and barring a major shipping mistake (just jinxed myself lol) I will be going all out
I need someone to hook me up with rims and tyres for the weekend...otherwise, I'm thinking the summer meats will be getting a workout.
Heh. I love how the wrx and sti owners are spending money to try to beat a lowly 2.2 wagon. 'course, we'll all probably get beat by a 1 wheel drive geo again.
joel will be watching your front step lol it won't be embarassing or anything having one of the highest hp cars there that may or may not be on "special tires" and coming in last
Nah, I have the same set of wheels with some less-grippy all seasons mounted though. I think the two of us can quickly swap dan's tires when he's not looking. He might not notice...
