How stiff are the swifts compared to stock? And are you on stock struts still? Or something stiffer/adjustable? The lower ride height itself won't hurt much, but you probably don't want your suspension bottoming out too much. My wagon is lowered about 1 ~ 1 1/2 inches, and so far it hasn't been a problem. But I'm on AGX struts too.
Now now, just because your 300+hp AWD STi got stomped by a 17 year old 140hp 2WD rustbucket at the last event is no reason to get testy.
Seat is in, harness bar is in, just need to do a quick vacuum and lace the shoulder belts (came in to find the diagram). Gonna make sure to bring a ton of water and ice on Sunday. Dehydration, heat exhaustion and I have met up too many times before. I think I'm gonna put my 10x10 EZ-Up at the starter's position so I can stand under that while I start cars. Edit: All done and ready except to take down the canopy tomorrow and throw it in the car.
Great to hear you got it finished!! I'll offer Scott to be my second driver. I'm leaving now to load the car.
Do you mind flying the banners on your EZ Up? I have some poles I was going to bring but that would be even better on the tent?
wow, that thing probably makes more torque at idle that my car does at it's peak. so, you're gonna rallycross it on sunday?
I don't know how you can stand having only 388lb/ft at 2800 rpm though. I mean, don't you want a little low end torque?
Woo hoo! First rallyx of the season for me. And first one I'm running where it's not going to be raining Although I like mud, I prefer sun shine... Sucks that I gotta be in M4 now because of my bigger TMIC. It changes nothing!!! Oh well, should be a blast.
Just talked with the rallycross chairman who is down at the site. He wanted me to let everyone attending know that the grass is fairly long at the site and he strongly recommends people wear long pants and bring your bug spray!
How good is the course? Rough, smooth? Is this just an open field? I've never been to this site, so I'm curious. Mainly, should I take things easy with my Forester lowered and no skidplates...:hsugh:
I say you hit it like a bat out of hell!:naughty: The course is smooth until the ruts arrive. But you can go around them. Jeans and bug spray...check!
I might be their to spectate after work..If I can get my roommate or someone to come with me..otherwise I may fall asleep at the wheel.
UGH!!! I would much rather be wearing shorts!!!! So much for getting a little color; Eric also posted on the LoL site to make sure to bring plenty of water as well. Carrie
well all my rally wheels are in the back seat and the re070's are back on for the drive down! the tires don't seem to be too affected by freeway driving but they are noisy as hell and I'd rather not run them if i don't have to. car is all packed up - excited for tomorrow!
The car is on the trailer, hooked to the truck in the driveway....most of the stuff is in the back of the truck, just a few things from the house, then, we are all set to head out bright and early in the morning....now if the last-minute babysitter comes through for us :crossing fingers:
Need a good nights sleep after working on the Leggy today (with lots of help from Carrie) and another project most of the day. Stainless brake lines, a much needed flush of the brake fluid (the stuff that first came out was very cloudy, not good) and a new air filter for better breathing. See you all in the a.m.! Amy
you tryin' to buy people off with peanut butter sandwiches? Hmm... maybe if I'm really hungry I'd be willing to hit a few cones for a sandwich...
Freeway driving will eat them alive. Short stints are OK, but once they get up to temp they'll wear really fast.
hmm, a lot of the dirty impreza guys say they have 1000 + pavement miles on their rally tires with no abnormal wear. they must just be driving a lot of short trips
I have some shears in my toolbox! also, looks like we'll have a really good turnout tomorrow! maybe even enough course workers that I can snap some pics? probably not
