It would be bad cause we want you to be able to slow down to get back in line for your next run. Repeat after me....More goey foot, less stoppy foot.
i could still engine brake and use the ebrake i have plenty of goey foot, i just tend to hit cones. maybe we could subtract 2 seconds for each cone instead of adding 2 seconds :eek3:
brake early, brake often. right? no? I think Mark is right though, the secret to shorter lap times is simply to drive faster.
Thanks. All packed up and ready to go. I have a stick of venison summer sausage that says Mark wants to drive a bit slower tomorrow.
up and waiting for josh to come borrow my snows. i've secretly filled them with cement. think he'll notice?
That was fun. Thanks again to the people who ran the event. Carl's hard work paid off, he had a great finish, he blew me away. And next time I am NOT going to work the course downwind when carl is driving. I was just covered in dirt at the end of the day. I had the same overall result as last time I think, 8th. I think Dan moved up one spot, but I was stil barely able to keep my little wagon ahead of his wrx. It'll be interesting to see the individual lap times and see how we compare. I loaned out my all season tires to Back Road Runner, who then promptly showed me just how good those tires can do. He won our class, PA, Derek Wagner had 2nd in PA., I had 3rd. I have a few new dents under my car, but other than that I didn't break anything.
it was an awesome time today. i look forward to seeing some pics and videos! i will post what i have after i process them but they're nothing special - just paddock shots. we had a great mnsubaru turnout! thanks for coming guys and thanks to the organizers for putting on another smoothly run event
this course must have been well suited to my car after I figured it out - didn't have major issues with running out of the powerband or bouncing off the rev limiter. the rally tires seemed to help most in cornering - I didn't understeer as much as usual (also might be because I was running the dccd in locked instead of auto). finished 4th in m4 and 5th overall
Did one of you have Carl's FRS radio? In the commotion of getting things ready, I handed it to someone around us and we never got it back. And thanks to all for a great time! Looking forward to the next event already!
thats what i was going to ask - someone has one of my blue motorola frs radios. not in a hurry to get it back, just need to know who has it
Good fun. I wasn't expecting to win the class, but I knew the car did well on the course. Much, MUCH thanks for the loaner wheels/tires prezawagon. They did well, better than I was expecting. I'd also like to thank the first run group for clearing the track for us. Half an inch diameter difference between front and rear tires for the limp home = unhappy center diff and boiled over rear diff on the way home to Rochester. I probably should have hounded prezawagon to borrow his winters. I need to take a couple pics of the poor tire that barely made the trip up for a little humor. I needed a fluid change anyways. The tranny and diff gear oil has a solid 50k miles on it with a handful of auto-xes, rally-xes, and ice racing. I've got a bit of vid footage from the event. My brother and I got in line early and got our runs done, so we could video tape the most of the rest of you guys most of the runs. I probably don't have everybody, but I think we have a little bit of footage from every run for both groups...I think. My brother and I also each recorded with a headrest mounted camera a couple runs in our cars. I know a few folks have been taking lots of pics and probably some video footage, so I expect a decent amount and variety of eye candy for everyone.
yea all the media never seems to pan out... for god's sakes people, post your pics and vids! at least do it on the LoL website! lol!
Ahh, sorry. The spare you were putting on there kinda looked like a full-size spare to me. I didn't know you had to go that far on a smaller tire. Or,,, I had a bottle of Slime and a 12v air compressor, we coulda tried to fix your old tire.
Translation: Post the pics where Carl's car looks cool. eh. cool pics of my car too please.
I doubt that would have saved it, but it probably would have been funny to try. The tires weren't too far off actually. I has 215/65/R16 winter Nokian WR with only 4mm of the 12mm left, a 27" tire. The full size spares were mine and my brother's, 215/60/R16, full-sized stockers with full tread. You'd think they'd end up decently close in size, but the Nokian was still around half an inch taller in diameter. This proved enough to wreak decent havok on the tranny in time. Who would have thunk, lol.:disco: The car's home none the less, and tomorrow, it's getting some new fluids, at least the rear diff. I can't do the tranny cause the drain plug isn't going to come off. It didn't last time at the shop, and I doubt I'll be able to get it off. It'll have to be sucked out again from the top like last time. Oh, vids will probably be up within a couple days.
Josh gave me "a" motorola but he had borrowed it from me when we left IGH. Was it a rechargeable? Great time today. Thanks to all the organizers. I hope to be at the rest of the events for the season. I'll post the few pics my wife took but we don't have too many. BTW Josh, my wife's friend took quite the interest in you today. I'll try to upload the video Where she is telling the wife she wants to see a lot more of 001....:ladysman::ladysman::ladysman::ladysman:
uh oh! lol! and yes, the motorola i lent josh was rechargeable - i should have "siegler" written on the back in sharpie (might be a bit faint though)
Thanks to all those that organised and made this event possible. We learned a bunch and will be ready for you guys at the next event. We have video that we will be posting however it won't be happening for at least 1 week due to travel schedule. Nice Job Carl and Joel you guys looked great today very smooth. That Forester Rocks.
