    Car: 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i
    Pertinent Modifications: Nada...
Description of Problem: Current problem is that the ABS, E-Brake, Traction Control, and Hill-Start Assist lights are all on, but car is not throwing any codes.

So about a week ago, whole gauge cluster lit up like a christmas tree, as the Subaru's do, on my drive home from work. Pulled the codes and was getting a P0102 and P0113. Searching around the interwebz seemed to indicate a problem with the MAF sensor. Took it out, cleaned with electronics cleaner, but codes remained. Pulled the air filter out only to discover that the wires to the MAF were shredded. No idea how this happened but whatever. Pulled out the soldering iron, got all the wires back together, cleared the codes, and I thought all would be well. One of the wires did appear to be a shielded wire, but I wrapped them up on it's own, and so far the engine codes have stayed gone.

However, as I stated above, there are still 4 lights remaining on the dash. I thought maybe just driving the car would eventually cause them to go away so I drove the car to work and back today (~25 miles) but nothing. Tonight I disconnected the battery for an hour, and after reconnecting, same situation. No engine codes being thrown, but those same 4 dash lights.

I even tried actually pressing the Traction Control on/off button hoping that it might actually just be disabled until the customer pushed the button. :p Sadly, it didn't change anything. Car seems to run solid still. When I was driving without the MAF, mileage seemed to be lower, but haven't had enough time to see if that is resolved now. Anyone got any ideas?

Recent Maintenance or Modification: Changed the oil on 6/20, but that's about it.

My first thought would be a wheel speed sensor issue, which I don't think would cause a CEL or log any codes. Don't know if those systems share a common fuse/relay but that might be something to check for too.

Are you sure the codes are cleared? You may have added resistance to the wiring by having to splice and solder, throwing of the reading from the MAF. Just a guess...

Good point. Also, if the wires really were "shredded" this could've been the work of a rodent. If so, there's definitely a chance some other wires could've been affected and causing the other lights. It's rare, but I've even seen it happen on a few newer cars that get driven regularly.

Brake pedal sensor. It's happened to me 3 times now. I bought two spares last week. $15 a piece.

That's crazy, 3 consecutive failures? Any specific issue with them or do they just mysteriously stop working?

2-3 revisions of the part. Maybe what I bought is #3? That's your problem... no doubt.

Finally got back around to looking into this last night and sure enough, spotted another wire that was shredded. It was right near the MAF wires, I just needed to pull my head out of my butt to actually see it. I think it was a ground, but I'm not 100%. Either way, it was definitely chewed on. Covering was shredded a bit near the bottom, and completely chewed through in one spot. Put some heat shrink on the chewed parts to cover them back up, then soldered the wire back together with more heat shrink to cover that.

Lights didn't go out right away, but on the drive to work this morning, everything turned off. Thanks for the help guys!
