Well I found out the really expensive/hard way today that you have to have the TQ converter flush with the bell housing when mating the motor to the tranny on the forester. I couldn't find any good videos on how the get that converter to seat right and go in farther. So i figured it might just need a little persuasion and fall into place by tightening the bolts down.... guess not.
Needs a little finese to get the converter to sit in. Just need to turn and push in at the same time while centering it. Ouch on the casing. Hopefully the converter didn't get damaged from having a shoulder lean on the shaft
i know i know i was just antsy to get it in and made things more difficult. motor and trans are back in the forester. need a few clamps, spark plugs and put in the radiator. lets hope she fires and rus good!!!!!i think when i put that tq converter back in after this it was in too far now and it was rubbing on the back of the bell housing causing it to lock the motor. did a small adjustment and with the starter in it seems to push it out a little bit. I hope this thing works. i'm over this car!
