I'll have the cornhole set up. SO you suckas better be ready to get SMOKED. SHHHHHHH, dont tell her that. I get to come by myself. Something I HARDLY get to do
Only 29 people signed up...who's going to be number 30?...better yet, who's going to be number 50!? As usual, we are going to be giving away lots of great raffle prizes! That's worth the $15 alone! Get signed up...ONLY 38 days to go!!!!
I had a great time when I went in 2011. I'm considering it for this year but it completely depends on my family's schedule. I'm TBD
I think a lot of people are waiting to see how the weather is gonna be first(like myself) Will pay when it gets closer and if it looks sunny and warm
I sincerely hope "a lot" of people aren't waiting for a 3 day forecast to decide to opt in. That is extremely unfair to Josh. This is one of the biggest events of the year with the highest up front out of pocket cost and a ton of planning required. Please don't treat it like a Tuesday night Old Chicago run, or eventually that's the only kind of event that will be left.
This event happens rain or shine, that's why we have a pavillion big enough to fit a 100 cars under! We've had rain before and still the event was a success...Wong!
Anything different this year than last year? Last year was my 1st and it was..... This is just a suggestion but we should take a group photo of everyone and take a photo of all cars parked to spell Mnsubaru somewhere before we park, more games, sports, tug of war or something, vendors selling car parts, on the spot Pdr, maybe a potluck, some music, best looking car for each model etc. We had guys leaving within 1/2 hour after we got there because there wasn't much of to do or see after talking to other owners and admiring other rides etc The drive was the best part. Again, just a suggestion to improve it and to make it better and more fun, so people would want to come back year after year I'm still undecided I know it all cost $ and I'm willing to pay more to get in($50/per person) but, anything different this year?
Idk man.. checking out cars, enjoying each others company, and drinking beer sounds good to me. I'm signing up as soon as I know for sure I have that weekend free.
We did have a car show. Breaking it out into each model is easy enough if people want to do it. The more complicated you make it the less buy-in you're going to get, consider yourself warned. Nothing stops you from bringing a couple balls and a rope along with you. It is a park... PDR could be cool. Josh, would we need licensing for any of the other suggestions? Music and/or vendor sales?
Wong Lee I totally disagree with everything you stated above. Let's do a potluck and give everyone food posioning.
Part of the problem with big time fun is logistics. We were talking about putting me in a dunk tank to raise funds for the site, but the logistics of getting a dunk tank rental to the pavillion and back to the rental spot proved to be impossible. Let alone, lining up 300 gallons of water to put in it. I'm almost certain you need permits for live music and the like.
That's what I thought too but no beer or alcohol and admiring cars only last so long(5-10mins) Anyone want to play a game of volleyball?
Speak for yourself. Most of us this car club are pretty happy talking about cars without getting drunk for more than 5 minutes. That's why we're here. You want a kitchen sink event that does pretty much everything but focus on cars. Uphill battle dude... How about a 1:1 tug of war for pinks?
I guess I remember in past years, the extra "activities" like kickball and what not, were the things that didn't get much attention from the masses. The car show, comradery, and hanging out was what got the most attention. I'm all up for new ideas, but instead of just naming off a few things, message some of the people in charge, offer up a suggestion AND your time and efforts to help bring them to life. The worse they will say is no...
Yes. It IS more expensive to do stuff like live music or sales. All of these things would require going before the Parks and Recreation board to have things approved(which i just don't have the time or resources for). And then there is the cost! I have been planning this event for 7 years and have looked into EVERYTHING in that time. The simple fact is, not everyone would be able to afford $50/person. I mean, you bring your wife and it's $100, plus fuel expenses....it's just not logical. ^This! We've tried kickball tournaments and other activities and they were fun, but participation was low. I've also put out bean bag toss and ladder ball games(which we spent our own money on)only for them to sit there during the entire event untouched. Wong, some people on here have said that they'd participate but the drive is too long. I for one could drive 5hrs without blinking as i love driving my car(especially with all of my buds). But it's not for everyone! You can definitely bring some games/ideas with you to share with the group!
HEY JOSHYPOO. My leave request is good. I'm in, plus probably a Jenni. I'll send money for two on Monday after I get paid.
I'll be bringing mine with me, and they will NOT sit untouched. I challenge you to the first game Joshy.
They definitely don't sit untouched at the campgrounds. More shenanigans to come this year, will be fun
Added those that posted, also added the payments to those who have PAID! 22 need to pay yet out of the 31 signed up...the cruise is only 25 days away!!!!
I'm planning to go- just need to figure out if I'm driving alone or not. Im looking forward to meeting some new friends and whatnot. Also, I did notice there is an autocross event scheduled in West Salem the next day... Just sayin' Ill make my payment as soon as I have a head count for my car.
Sorry Josh. Been waiting to find out what the GF's on-call schedule is looking like so I know if it's just me or me plus 3. Will update and paypal ASAP. To everyone debating on whether or not to go, this is one of the greatest events this club does IMHO and is not to be missed. The sheer enjoyment of seeing friends and meeting new members while talking about and checking out other Subarus is more than enough entertainment for me. The raffle doesn't hurt either, I have won some pretty great prizes myself. Also, remember this is the LaX CRUISE. The drive is 1/2 the fun.
