As of right now I have no idea were the leak is, but I think it could be a bad gasket. My head gasket was changed out less then 2 years ago but that was the only gasket that was changed. It could be the throttle body gasket from what I have read but I have yet to find a way to find the leak. I know I need to get this fixed before I blow my engine.

The problem with cheap head gasket jobs on Subarus is it's a bit harder to get the head surfaces really clean of residue and accurately check the trueness of the deck surface. It's much easier on an inline-4 because it's staring ya right in your face. And with the boxer engine, it's twice as easy to mess up -- two gaskets.

I'd check for warpage on the heads and block and get new head bolts too.

If I were you, since I watch my money, I would find out which head gasket failed and just replace that one.... I dunno. Good luck with it all though.

You need to have the deck and the heads checked. The '99 I am rebuilding had to have both machined or it was an almost guarantee that I was going to have leaks.

This is the reason that most head gasket jobs go bad. The decks and heads are not true.

swap in another 2.2 (or 1.8) they are cheap, and usually dont blow head gaskets, something must have happend to yours earlier in life (overheated) to make it do it.

Yea a used 2.2 is maybe twice the cost of the gaskets... I'd go that route.
