dont mean to highjack but this thread seems pretty much over, will bushings make shifting smoother? my third gear is kinda messed up sometimes if i shift fast and i know the sink-roes help with it poping out of gear but do they help smoother shifting too? fyi my car doesnt pop out of gear its just a hard shift into 3rd sometimes
You might benefit from fresh tranny fluid. Does Uncle Scotty's play nice in Legacy trannies ? I would think so since it's a 5MT.
Bushings will eliminate the slop, and make shifts shorter. Smoothness - probably not. Hard shifts - like it goes in slowly or does not go at all until you try again in a different spot? If the latter - change the bushings and make sure you have a return spring down there, attached to a washer on top of front bushing. As for different mixes - when you help your synchros, you make life harder for front diff. I just run OEM or Redline NS
