I got a 1997 legacy outback limited 5spd that came with a factory alarm system. I want to remove the factory alarm system and install an aftermarket remote start. Problem is when I unplugged all the wire harness from the factory alarm module with the wire harness still spliced in and also unplugged the starter interrupter harness and connected the ignition wires harness back together the car would not start at times. It would sometimes crank over once and then stop but when I turn the key back to the on position the starter would turn over once more. If I get lucky the car would start once but after I try multiple test after that, the car would then only crank over and over. So I plugged back the alarm module and it starts just fine. Is there something I'm missing here? Please let me know what you think. I also tried following all the wires that the alarm is spliced into and it seems to me that none of them have anything to do with the fuel cut off or another starter interrupter. Much help is needed please! Thanks!
How it was done in my car was the aftermarket one is piggybacked off the factory one. Im not sure if this one done because its eaiser to reverse or if there are just certain aspects of the stock alarm system that can not be replaced with a aftermarket.
well today I tried hot wiring the starter wire from the relay this morning and it seems to start fine at times. sometimes it'll take a couple cranks to start but sometimes it starts right away. I believe it has something to do with the fuel cut off. any more ideas?
