Got in it tonight and after 5-6 blocks the motor felt like it lost all power. RPM dropped to 400-600 and ran rough... Milked it home about 4 miles smelled like a burnt belt during part of the drive and antifreeze afterward.

I had thought I had a rod knock but was told I was just piston slap after taking a well known member for a ride last week... Also thought my power steering pump might be going due to a squeal and difficult turning during warmup/ first few blocks of driving...
I am leaning toward frozen pump with the smell and earlier problems but would that cause the motor to feel like it is going to stall every time I let off the gas. Power loss is thoughout the whole RPM range but worst below 1500 RPM

    any help would be great

    Thanks Dean

Werent you just talking about how it had a funky idle? When the IAC valve fails it goes into fail safe, and kills injectors on two cylinders. Clean your IAC valve and clear the memory and report back.

Yes that is a different issue (miss on snow/cold days at freeway speed) which has happened 4 times in two years.

This issue could have something to do with IAC. It did seem like it was running on 2-3 cylinders. I know medical abbreviations but I am lacking on the car ones... IAC = ?

Got up this morning and got all dressed up to dig in and it started right up with no problems... Go figure

idle air control valve, sounds like you have a combo maf/iac problem, as they are almost directly related to eachother.

I know what and where the MAF is but not the IAC... This is a sensor correct? Where is this one located and what are the best ways to clean both of these without ruining them?

The big hose that connects to your air intake goes to the IAC, have someone hold the revs up while you pull that hose off, the car will want to die, then spray throttle body cleaner down the hose (sensor side) not too much at a time, but enough to get it smoothed out, then turn the car off, pull the negative battery terminal, step on the brake, let the car cool all the way off, then restart. It will be tough to start, as it will sort of be flooded, but I assure you it will start. Then go drive it around a bit.
