On a 99 Legacy Outback limited w/ 2.5L auto trans it has a slight vibration upon acceleration at about 5-35mph. I replaced the rear tranny mount and it did not improve. Now I have searched a bit and what I have found is a similar circumstance, it is more related to engine speed while not moving, and it has been called normal. This is an issue while accelerating. Any ideas?:eek3:
You can spend tons of time and even more money, and you won't fix it. That concern has been around since that series engine came out, and many techs at lots of different have attempted to fix it on Subaru's recommendations with pretty much no luck.
well thats a bummer. I am wondering about that rear tranny mount, there is a small bushing that sits below the cross brace that the mount is attached to but it sits maybe a centimeter below (not touching) that cross brace which allows the trans to move up and down, to me it seems like more than it should. Is there maybe a thicker bushing to use there and maybe that would help? now this is kind of the kicker, the complaint is the vibration on a car w/ 96,xxx mi. they say that it is a fairly new concern, meaning that it has not always been that way. is that also a common deal or is this well known issue basically from the start of the vehicles life?
They were known for a vibration from the start of the vehicles life. If they are thinking it is something relatively new, you may want to check if they have had a new axle installed lately. If it's anything but a Subaru Reman, then you may have a problem.
ok thanks, I will do that. I'm thinking not based on a few things, but its possible. thanks:biggrin: any other thoughts welcome
