So I got one of the projects up and going today. (New transmission) and I took it out for its maiden voyage. (99 legacy 2.2 mt) I noticed when I come to the first stop sign the brakes didn't feel quite right... pedal wouldn't go in as usual. Kept going came to the next stop and i could feel it pulsing..... ABS was on even though it wasn't slippery or icy obviously. Totally dry pavement. So i drove it about 7-8 miles and coming up to a light the pedal went down like it was supposed to ABS wasn't kicking in, it was braking as it should.... but then the ABS light came on.?????

    Any ideas?

I would guess tone rings. Each wheel has an abs sensor. I know there is a specific clearance between the ring and sensor. Maybe check the gap or clean them up and check wires?
